New BCS-462 / RPi Control Panel Build

Thanks! The build was a great learning experience and has been brewing great beer ever since. The automation greatly improves my ability to replicate beers, maintain consistency, decrease session length, and decrease brew day stress. It also has allowed me a great platform to help teach others...

    Korean Posts Translated in Google

We should try to urge the spammers to take up a new hobby, like homebrewing. They would have less time to hack, and more time to enjoy the better things in life ... beer. Also, who actually enjoys Korean massages anyway...

    Korean Posts Translated in Google

So, I went ahead and translated the Korean in Google Translate and it's some sort of Korean massage advertisement. Repeats "Massage Mass production" over and over.

Hi folks. I am not going to be able to make it on Saturday for the pick up. I am in for a sack of Pale and a smaller split. Is there anyone that would be willing to pick up for me that happens to live near Woodbridge? Much thanks.

Control Panel: PIDs and Switches, or one large touch LCD?

Kal, I don't know is why I've never thought of that. That's a great idea. My MLT is insulated and I'm sure would hold the heat well overnight.

Control Panel: PIDs and Switches, or one large touch LCD?

AGREE! Despite the fact that I have safety features built in, I take safety very seriously. An operating a gas based system should not be left unattended.

Control Panel: PIDs and Switches, or one large touch LCD?

So, one of the other great advantages to the BCS system is that I can control the entire operation from multiple devices. For example, I am an early brewer. I set my alarm to wake up early, use my smartphone to turn on the element and recirc pump to heat my strike water. By the time I get up...

Control Panel: PIDs and Switches, or one large touch LCD?

I guess I'll weigh in here as I went through this same thought process and build over the last two years. My previous panel was a PID based system which worked well - ran my brewery and helped me make wort. My intention was to 1) increase opportunities for automation, 2) increase process ease of...

New BCS-462 / RPi Control Panel Build

Initially, the new build with the BCS and touchscreen was largely motivated by the fact that my old panel had no sex appeal. The new panel is sexy as hell IMHO. However, I have been able to truly add some significant upgrades in automation and process flow that I never had with the previous PID...

What are your contrarian/"unpopular" beer opinions?

I've never tasted anything brewed by New Belgium brewing that's worth buying again. Frankly, I wouldn't drink it if it were free.
