    Green apple / acetone taste

Sorry to resurrect this old post, but hopefully it can help someone else. I aged the last of these bottles until today. The acetone taste is still there 100%. possibly worse. I think I figured it out (and have corrected it for many more batches since). I did not have anything resembling...

    Backsweetening question

I ended up drawing 100ml off the keg and testing it with small amounts of honey to taste. Settled on 1.7ml per 100 ml for my taste. Pulled 400ml from the keg, mixed it up and added it back to the keg. Turned out well. Still very dry, but a touch of sweetness to take the edge off of it.

    potassium sorbate question

I'm sure this question has been asked 100 times over, but I have not found the answer. I have recently finished aging a batch of cyser (cider and honey) that I made in the early summer. I transferred it to a keg and cooled it down in the keggerator. I tried it, and its pretty good, but after...

American Pale Ale Three Floyds Zombie Dust Clone

How warm did you ferment with the 644? That looks super interesting.

American Pale Ale Three Floyds Zombie Dust Clone

I laid down round 4 on this beer yesterday evening and it has started to chug away nicely. My first attempt was done with WLP002.. Second time I used S-04, but I really preferred the WLP002. It is currently fermenting with harvested WLP002 from the last time I made this. I keep it fermenting...

    Backsweetening question

Hello, I made up a batch of hard cider from apple cider that I bought from Costco up here in Canada (Its pretty run of the mill pasteurized store bought cider). So far, its coming along well. It fermented well with WLP775 and on transfer to secondary, the unsweetened dry cider was pretty...

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

I jumped on this bandwagon after reading the HBT top 100 beers. It looks intriguing, and most of my friends won't drink my beloved hop bombs (see #8 on the list... zombie dust). Brewed it up on Friday evening. I hit an OG of 1.042 and pitched it with WLP001 done with a small 1L starter. Very...

    First kegging problen

I just pulled it apart. I totally put them on the wrong sides. The gas was coming out the beer drip tube and the beer out the gas. On another fun note, I put the attachments on the wrong posts, so I am struggling to unattach them :) dumb dumb dumb. Lesson learned I guess :)

    First kegging problen

Perhaps I should off gas it and reassemble it?

    First kegging problen

Hello all, I have kegged my first beer. I put it up to 30psi for a day, then dropped it to 9psi. When I tried my first pour, it is almost all gas, then foam. It almost feels like its not pulling beer from the bottom of the keg, bug just off gasing from the top until it gets foamy. I got the...

    Saving yeast?

Have you read the post on yeast washing? https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=41768 that may be helpful for you. You are on the right track, but some pretty easy steps could help you out a bit.

    Auto Siphon

I have identified a part of my process that is hurting my final product. I can never seem to get a good seal on my auto siphon where is connects to the tubing. Every time I use it I get a bit of air into the line as its running. Are there any tricks for sealing that up? I have debated...

American Pale Ale Three Floyds Zombie Dust Clone

I made a very small batch of this (2.5 gal.. really 2 gal after all the trub) and bottled it up a few weeks ago. I used WLP002 instead of one of the recommended strains. I got into it over the weekend. :drunk: Man this is good beer. I'll definitely make this one again, but in a larger quantity...

    Good news!

I spent a well deserved day off work yesterday bottling a batch of IPA and making a new batch of the same IPA from all grain. The beer I was bottling was, for the first time, without question delicious on sampling before conditioning.. (Not that my other beers all turned out bad, but I think...

    Dry hopping

I fermeneted it at 68F. SnakeRidge your post makes complete sense now that I think about it. It does resemble a riseing krausen. I will be sure to filter my siphon. I standby that it looks like pond scum.. Delicious delicious pond scum.

    Dry hopping

I did the dry hopping last weekend using hop pellets and went away for the week for work. I came back and this is what I have. (See pictures) Is this normal? I had assumed the hops would sink to the bottom.. Not make something resembling pond scum. It this an infection, or hops?
