    My first beer: Belgian White

Did this one taste any different from the first bottle? You could always make it cloudy again by swirling a bit left in the bottle before pouring the rest :)

    American wheat fermentation question

Day 13 and the gravity is at 1.018 from an OG of 1.046. Krausen has fallen but there are bubbles on top and the blow off is still bubbling about every 20 seconds. Keep being patient and let it ferment another week? FYI, the FG is estimated to be about 1.009-1.013.

    Dead mouse (little F'er)

As was mentioned earlier, make sure you rinse the carboy very well after using the bleach solution so you dont end up with any band aid flavored batches. I'd hit it with oxy clean after rinsing it out just to do a double cleaning.

    Sympathy accepted

Memorial Day weekend is first and foremost to honor those that have and are currently serving our great country. THANK YOU! Secondly, it's the weekend we kick off summer with sun, BBQ and most importantly BREWS! Well, not this year. We have had our wettest spring in record and since Saturday...

    American wheat fermentation question

I let the yeast warm to room temperature about 2.5 hours before pitching. I'll just be patient and let the yeast do their thing and not worry about it. Thanks for the replies.

    American wheat fermentation question

I brewed a Midwest Boundary Waters Wheat kit 8 days ago. I used White Labs WLP320 and pitched directly into the carboy (no starter) into the wort which was 68*. I always heard wheat beers ferment pretty quickly but this batch only had a krausen about 1" thick from the beginning and 8 days from...

Help! Will my beer be ruined?

Craft brews or microbrews is about as close as you can get. You get one freebie on your first batch but after that it has to be a homebrew.

Help! Will my beer be ruined?

Geez, even I knew that requirement on my very first batch. All I can suggest is to drink beer for the next 3 weeks while this batch carbonates and maybe there's hope.

    Summer Ale Recipe

I assume you dont want it very hoppy since it's a summer, lighter beer? That just doesnt seem like many hops in the recipe.

Still fermenting, but developing an infection

Sweet! Glad it turned out well for you.

    Early Trub? or undissolved DME?

Yes, a good cold break will help with chill haze but that does not mean that you may not experience one anyway.

    Post your infection

Even though it looks like your dog left you a present, it's only krausen and is perfectly normal.

Complete Beginners Question (Coopers IPA Kit)

Yep, the nasty stuff on top is completely normal and will eventually fall to the bottom of the carboy. You will definitely want to keep an eye on the temperature of the fermentor and try to keep the temps below 70 (generally). It looks like it's well on it's way to becoming beer! Now the...

    Did the yeast stop?

As others have said, just let the yeast do their job for at least another week or two before you take a gravity reading then wait for 3 more days to take another reading. I would move it to a more stable temperature controlled room though so the yeast will be less stressed and produce a better...

Complete Beginners Question (Coopers IPA Kit)

Unionrdr is correct. I just did a Coopers Australian ale as my first brew and it actually came out very good. The can is for a 6 gallon batch but you will need additional fermentables such as the Coopers BE1 or BE2. Personally, I just used 3lbs of extra light DME and it worked great. Also, as...

5/21/11 End of the world brew

I brewed a "Heavenly Honey Wheat" today. I'm glad the end of the world didnt come because I would have been ticked that I didnt get to try my other two batches that are about ready.
