    Robobrew/Brewzilla Discussion

Eh, maybe you're right on the condenser. It's not too complicated and far cheaper than trying to add a hood vent, ducting, motor, and cutting hole in the side of my house. How are you supplying the water to the mister? Are you using a pump or just tapping into a faucet? I plan to brew in my...

    Robobrew/Brewzilla Discussion

Not sure this is the best thread to tack these questions onto, but I pre-ordered a 35L Gen 4 and had a few logistics questions. I'm an experienced brewer coming from a HERMS. I sold my rig to simplify my brewday. I'm planning to batch sparge with my 35L. Any specific recommendations on mash...

    Simplifying My Brew Day

Aeration! Yes! This is another topic I've debated. I have an aerator wand with O2 canisters. NOT difficult to use or clean but it's just one more thing. From many of the youtube brew sessions I've observed, it seems most people are simply draining their brew kettle into the fermenter from a...

    Simplifying My Brew Day

Regarding the yeast, I'm not even sure the beers I brew need more yeast. I exclusively brew 5 gallon batches. I rarely ever exceed 1.065 OG which according to the calculators, require a small starter to get the numbers to where they need to be, but I'm super tempted to just skip the starter and...

    Simplifying My Brew Day

RE: crushing grain the night before - this is a good one! I have a mill set somewhat aggressively and was using a technique I found online to "dampen" the hulls before crushing so they don't just obliterate when I crush them. This gives me a good crush while keeping the hulls intact. BUT, this...

    Simplifying My Brew Day

It's been over a year since I brewed a batch of beer. Between the heat from this summer and the anxiety of a 6+ hour brew day, I've lost the interest in brewing. I started brewing 6 years ago on a propane turkey fryer kit with partial mash kits. I had a ton of fun and was able to knock out...

NEMA 6-30 Receptacle on a 30amp GFCI breaker?

That’s what I assumed. I was planning to keep the breaker as it’s installed and simply cap the neutral wire at the receptacle. So the gfci should still work?

NEMA 6-30 Receptacle on a 30amp GFCI breaker?

I've been brewing for several years on a HERMS with a 30amp 240v controller. The controller was connected to a 4 wire NEMA 14-30 plug / receptacle. I recently sold this system and ordered a 240v Brewzilla Gen 4. The Brewzilla comes with a 3-wire NEMA 6-30 plug. If I replace the receptacle on...

Sold Electric HERMS Brewery - San Antonio / Austin, TX

If you're looking to go electric, this is the deal you've been waiting for. I've decided to downsize my brewing operation so it's time to sell my eHERMS system. This system is turnkey, super clean, and built right. I average 80-85% mash efficiency. Here are all of the specs: HLT (1/2BBL 15.5g...

My chest freezer died. :(. Question about replacement...

Does anyone know if an Anvil Bucket Fermentor will fit in one of the following? Danby model DWC458BLS 45-bottle wine cooler Danby model DBC039A1BDB 124-can beverage center It has those wide handles and wide base and I get the feeling it may not fit. I was thinking since I need to replace the...

First closed transfer with my Anvil Fermentor and 7oz of dry hops

Yep. I dry hop loose. It's really not a problem at all, but you have to give the hops plenty of time to drop out. Once they're on the bottom of the fermenter you're fine. This is the filter I bought: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CH29IK2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1...

First closed transfer with my Anvil Fermentor and 7oz of dry hops

No problems at all. The amount of hops isn't that important as long as you do a proper cold crash. I crash for 2-3 days before I try to transfer and haven't had any clogs. The one thing that's really boosted my confidence is I got one of those inline filters. I drop the whole in starsan...

    Portable GFCI Spa Panel

Update: I built it and it worked beautifully. 50-amp GFCI breaker in the main panel. 14-50 outlet. Then I have a portable spa panel with a 30-amp GFCI breaker to power my brewing panel.

    Portable GFCI Spa Panel

Ok. That's what I thought. I've wired several GFCI outlets in a series before and I know that usually the first upstream GFCI will trip and all others further up stream will stay on (which is fine).

    Portable GFCI Spa Panel

I actually haven't heard that the car charger needs to be on a GFCI circuit, but the good news is I can pull the 50-amp gfci breaker out of the spa panel and put THAT in the main panel and put the 30-amp GFCI in the spa panel. Any problems running 2 gfci breaker one after the other? Probably...

    Portable GFCI Spa Panel

Sorry to dig up this ancient thread, but I want to build a similar solution for my situation which is a little different. Background: I have an existing 50-amp circuit in my garage with a NEMA 14-50 plug. I removed the 50-amp breaker and replaced with a 30-amp GFCI breaker I removed the NEMA...

Waking up to mash tun at strike temp

This is my current solution and honestly...all things considered... it's probably good enough. I need ~30 mins to condition and mill my grain anyway. It might be worth just sticking to my current method

Waking up to mash tun at strike temp

I built one of these: E-HERMS Brewery Build Forum The goal is to retain most of what I built. I don't want to make major changes (especially within the box) to accommodate a delayed start. External components would be ideal, or even direct swap with what I have (like upgrading my HLT PID to...

Waking up to mash tun at strike temp

Ah, I see what you mean. Good point. I just really don't want to go through and modify my wiring within my control box. I spent weeks wiring it, and the idea of going through and making changes or cutting new holes sounds horrible. :(
