    Harvesting Duvel Yeast

I've done it, but with more then two bottles. I think I had 4-6 until I was done. I had a good starter going, but never got to use it. life got in the way and I never did anything with it. I did hear, however, that they bottle condition with a differnt yeast. tom

    Do I have enough yeast

That looks like the jar of actual washed yeast. the thin white layer is the healthy yeast on top of the trub. After washing yeast, you still have to make a starter to reuse the yeast. You will especially need a descent sized, healthy starter for a beer of that OG. tom

Guide to Making a Frozen Yeast Bank

mountainman619- Another question. what is the "1002PT1SKYA1" on your label? I assume it's some kind of code for you or the production code on the yeast vial? Thanks! tom

    Carboy Lesson Learned

OxyClean is, I believe, God's gift to brewers! I use that stuff practically everywhere except on my aluminum pots. I typically buy a large container when I'm at Sam's. tom

Guide to Making a Frozen Yeast Bank

mountainman619- What program/template are you using to label your vials? I used the mailing label and hand writing solution and realizing quickly that I hate it. The mailing labels aren't sticking worth a crap. tom

Thoughts on shipping yeast across the country?

Shipping yeast is typically okay until the really hot summer days hit. Even then, most places will ask if you want to upgrade to have a cool pack shipped with the yeast. If you didn't make a starter with the White Labs, your fine, things are going as expected. For me, White Labs tends to be...

First time sour attempt, how's this sound?

Not much help here as I've never made a sour yet, but interested in the answers you get. I saw that "bugged" barrel and was going to buy it myself. That is until you stole it from me! ;) Good luck! tom

Saturday is still good. Morning would probably be best. I'm planning to brew so any time from like 8-2 should definitely be a go. PM me and I'll give you my cell number so you can text or call me when your close. That goes for anyone coming Saturday. If I'm brewing, I'll be in the basement...

Saturday is also a good pickup day. I'm actually planning to brew in the am. I was asked politely by the misses to keep the pickups to a minimum on Friday. If you can do tomorrow or Saturday, that would be best. I believe any time Saturday should be good. I normally start brewing around 8am...

Window will be 6-8 tomorrow unless I can get out of here a little early. If that happens I will post on here. Sorry for the short time frame but since my sons in school now we have shower and bed times which I used to not have to worry about. Oh, the ups guy brought the two sacks bz-dmun as...

Dukeman is correct. The grains have arrived and are sitting in my garage. However, since they gave me No notification that they were indeed coming today, I hard to leave in the middle of a job to run home and get them. Due to that happening, I won't be shortly leave early to start sorting...

I'm just glad you guys are patient with the whole deal! I do admit, it's getting tough to figure out and juggle my schedule at this point. I've made plans to "get the grains" several times now! Thankfully it should soon be over.. tom

Turns out the grains did not come today. Now I'm having issues with the shipping company. He said they should come out tomorrow or Wednesday. Of course he only called to tell me this after I was off work for two hours. I will just let everyone know when they are in my possession and we will...
