Adding Cocoa Nibs in Primary vice Secondary?

Thats what I was thinking! Would you throw them in a mesh bag so they don't drop into the yeast cake?

Adding Cocoa Nibs in Primary vice Secondary?

I have my stout which has been in the primary for about 2 weeks now and I need to add the chocolate nibs to it but I was hoping I could avoid going to the secondary and just do it in the primary for a week and then bottle? Any suggestions? Also, I was curious if going to a secondary has more...

    Minimal carbonation

Mine have been steady at 70F for the 5 days, going to try one on Sunday to see where they are and take one from the middle of the bottling batch, the one I tried was from the end. Tasted good, just not fizzy... (Sorry I am highjakcing your thread Lambo!) I also did 2/3 of a cup of corn priming...

    Minimal carbonation

I just tried my smashing pumkin spin off and it was flat also, just a small amount of a hiss when I opened the bottle, it has been bottle conditioning for 5 days

    Extremely High OG Question

No second yeast pack right now, won't be able to get one till Monday... Can I pitch then?

    Extremely High OG Question

So I just finished brewing my IPA that I posted about yesterday, I am concerned though that my OG was about 1.090! Will 1 pack of yeast be enough or should I pitch another pack? Any chance this will ferment down? I mean even if it hits the 1.020 mark it would be north of 9% ABV... The sample I...

    Help with IPA Recipe

Thanks for the responses, I have the ingredients and I dialed back a littl ebit here and there but have plenty of hops for this one. I was trusting that the rescipe was good since I am a NOOB and don't know the differences yet (still reading and learning about what does what in the brew). I will...

    Help with IPA Recipe

This is a Founders Centennial IPA Clone I found while searching this site, I love the Founders Centennial and really wanted to make this one so I was trying to follow suit. What would you change in the grain bill?

    Help with IPA Recipe

What exactly is boil size? I thought it would be the amount I put in the kettle (usually start with 2.5 gallons to steep the specialty grains). Will that error completely fubar the recipe?

    Can I bottle

Good excuse to buy another $15 primary!

    Help with IPA Recipe

I finally bit and got the Beersmith program for my computer last night after finding an all grain Founder Centennial Clone Recipe on this site. Well I entered everything in and tried to convert it over to Extract (not going all grain for a while based on having to move again in the near future)...

    Questions about pumpkin ales

I wanted to try putting actual pumpkin in mine but decided to keep it simple and add the spice to the wort at the end of the boil. I am getting ready to bottle the beer this weekend (maybe tonight) and so far I am not seeing a lot of the flavor I expected but I am told it will change when the...

    Rookie Mistake

Has to do with family home in Maine on Squirrel Island. I am collecting bottles as fast as possible, didn't realize my first beer would be such a hit.

    Rookie Mistake

Tonight I realized that I have made the most rookie of mistakes... I only have 6 homebrews left and I am not bottling again until this weekend... This hobby is wicked addictive! Anyone else make this mistake? :mug:

    What would you do?

Just racked it to the secondary tonight, mostly to make room in my primary for a stout. Took a reading to check to see where I was and I am still right around 1.011-1.012 so I think I am good for another week, wanted to see if the secondary will also clear it up a little more than my first batch...

my first beer going into secondary

Just racked to secondary (first time) to make room for a new brew in the primary tomorrow!

    What would you do?

I added 1 teaspoon at the end of the boil. I think it might be different in the bottle, I could tell there was a hint of something but it also didn't taste right since was still. uncarbonated

    What would you do?

Do you just sprinkle it in or are you planning on adding it to some hot water or something to break it so it doesn't clump? I had issues with that when I added it at the hot break. Thanks!

    What would you do?

So I am just passing the two weeks in the primary fermenter with my smashing pumpkin spin off... The problem is that my wife and I both agreed that there wasn't much of a pumpkin spice taste yet (sampled for FG which was at 1.014 and OG was 1.062). Can I add more pumpkin spice (Hesitant to do...
