Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

I think I’ve been jumping the gun a little here. My bad. The display was showing the temps, control mode etc on the older BrewPi window, but not the new Fermentrack windows. Until I started a test brew and began logging. Now it is showing. Again, jumped the gun. Thanks for being patient with...

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

Thanks guys. I clearly missed that “minor” detail when I started this. This networking and coding stuff is way outside my wheel house, which is one reason I love this board. Hooked up my Arduino and most everything is working as advertised. Since my Onewire temp probes are on the Arduino, is...

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

Trying a new setup here and need some help. I am a former BrewPi on Arduino moving to Fermentrack on Rpi3b. I have setup the Rpi and successfully installed Fermentrack software. I have accessed my page and setup my profile. I’m stuck now. The page is asking me to add a new device. I thought this...

    New Anvil Bucket Fermentors

I’m digging this setup, but seeing as how I have a Fermonster, I can’t put any pressure on the fermenter. I have it purging my serving keg as it ferments, but I like to naturally carb my kegs. This is easy in a pressure vessel like a keg with a spunding valve, but I’m not sure how to do this...

Made some changes and improved my efficiency

I have this exact same issue. About 8-10% loss from my BK to the fermenter via a pump and CFC. In fact I just posted about this a week ago. Based on those responses, I think at least half of my losses are in the pump and hoses so I’m revisiting just using gravity to feed my CFC. Making sure the...

    What are your CFC losses?

Since I do BIAB, I can only picture this would require me to use another vessel and do an extra step, which I’m not really interested in as going BIAB was all about reducing steps and vessels. It’s a great idea but I’m not sure if it fits in my process.

    What are your CFC losses?

I think that’s been my problem. I don’t have a great place for the coil and it’s never level.

    What are your CFC losses?

I was using gravity for a bit but it was SOOO slow. I already had the pump so I figured why not? I can take the pump out of the equation, but with the coiled CFC it seems like wort would get caught in the loops with just gravity. Unless, are you hooking up a length of tubing to the CFC outlet...

    What are your CFC losses?

I have an approximately 25’ CFC that is homemade and I’m seeing approximately 2.-2.5 quarts of loss. Some of this is in my pump and tubing, but it all seems very high. Those using a pump and CFC, what losses do you see from post-boil into fermenter?

    Lager fermentation question

So it’s dropped a couple more points, down to 1.012. I’m slowly dropping it to 44 then when transfer to a serving keg and lager for 6 weeks. My next question is, can lagering occur at 40F? Is that too warm? I have a fermentation fridge, but I have more batches that most go in before 6 weeks are...

    Show me your grain storage

Anyone use these or something similar from IKEA? I haven’t seen them in person, but they appear to have a silicon rubber gasket. They have this size and another that is double the size. https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S69276807/

    Lager fermentation question

I did taste it and it doesn’t taste like a 1.015. But the recipe called for a multi-step mash, which I know isn’t REALLY necessary in most cases, but I did it anyway. 125 protein, 147 beta and 164 alpha rests. I calculated my conversion at 97% which, if my numbers are right, can’t do much better...

    Lager fermentation question

I have my first lager going, a Vienna. Recipe targets OG 1.054, FG 1.008. Pitched two packets of 34/70. Fermented at 53 for 7 days then let rise to 57 for the last 3 days. After 10 days I’m at 1.015 and the fermentation profile has me finished with the diacetyl rest beginning the ramp down to...

    Low Attenuation

Can’t say for sure... I never do an iodine test or anything to know when conversion is complete. But at the 30 minute mark it has usually lost a few degrees. I use a corona mill so I don’t have a numeric setting per se, but I do crush pretty tight so I’m probably taking unnecessary and even...
