    Bend, OR...what's hot, what's not?

From what I've heard they haven't started distribution of their beer, but when they do it won't be bottled but canned which is pretty awesome!

    Bend, OR...what's hot, what's not?

If I had to make at least one recommendation it would be go to Boneyard Brewing! They only have a small tap room but the beer is epic. There are a lot of breweries over there but Boneyard is amazing. Awesome IPA's

Wet Hop / Harvest Ales 2012

Do it! I would be cool to have a look at what others did for their wet hop recipes.

Wet Hop / Harvest Ales 2012

Just tapped my Wet Hop Ale for the first time! Cold crashing helped with clarity some, but I am leaning towards some sort of filtration system! The bitterness seemed tame at first but built up on the back of the tongue with each sip. I used us-05 at its lower temp range and the result was a...

    First beer!

I've pitched yeast at 90 before due to a poorly calibrated thermometer and didn't have any noticeable off flavors. I have had a beer that stayed at temps too high during fermentation and it suffered from some weird flavors.

    Midnight CDA

To this day the best I've tasted was an Imperial CDA from Boneyard brewing in Bend and it was outstanding. I've also had Hop in the Dark by Deschutes and for my tastes that had too much roast, or at least not enough intense hop flavor. This style is definitely next on the agenda for myself.

Looking for a High ABV IPA extract kit

Ever since Northern Brewer changed from flat rate shipping I've been ordering most of my kits from Austin Homebrew, although Northern Brewer does have a DIPA kit listed. Austin Hombrew kits are really pretty good and they have a ton of IPA kits and 3 or 4 double or imperial IPA's. I'm not sure...

    Midnight CDA

I don't know I prefer mine to be hop forward but I think the style should have some roast! But never more roast than hop.

Do you hear that sound? That was the sound of my hat being thrown into the ring.

    First All Grain brew session!

Last night I completed my first attempt at an all grain with my dads help (he's been doing all grain for years). I can see why a lot of brewers end up progressing to this stage of brewing because I found it to be much more involved! We did a pretty low gravity Northern Brewer Pro Series...

What To Do With Unknown Hops???

make a SMaSH with them? That way you could evaluate their bittering/flavor and aroma qualities.

    Wet Hop Hop Bursted IPA

Well I used 5 gallons worth of wet hops, I also ended up bagging the same amount dried which ended up being around 10 oz. So I figured I had about 10 oz of dried hops wet status during my last 20 min of boil. So just to clarify during my last 20 min of boil I used wet hops to the equivalent of...

    Wet Hop Hop Bursted IPA

Yeah I only read the first few posts. Could be that you might just have to experiment if no one else with experience posts. I used wet hops the equivalent of 10 ounces of dry and it was okay, but I did use a 10 gallon kettle for a 5 gallon batch. I feel like "swamp city" is a little unfounded.

    Wet Hop Hop Bursted IPA

This has a bit more on the subject. Not sure if you've read it or not. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f13/hop-bursting-wet-hops-263727/

    Wet Hop Hop Bursted IPA

I can't say as to whether or not there is a grassy flavor but I brewed one a few days ago using some dried bittering hops and then saturated the kettle with wet hops in that last 20 minute period. I also stirred it around breaking up the hops and let it stew with the heat off and covered. All I...

    yeast strain suggestion?

I haven't tried 1098 but it sounds really good!

    yeast strain suggestion?

You could try out US-04? It brews with more fruitiness compared to US-05. I'm drawing a blank on a good Wyeast. Look on their site maybe and check out all the different strains, shouldn't be too hard to mix it up a bit.
