Double IPA - Tell me what you think

Hey all, 2015 I plan on focusing on all types of IPA's. Really trying to get my system down since we just moved and feel like I need to configure everything again. Plan to brew this all grain batch tomorrow. Tell me what you think, or what you think I should change. Grain: 14...

2L Starter is more with yeast

exactly, I should have about 120 Billion cells for a 500ml harvest from this starter which was the plan. Well that's at least what the online calculation tells me for what that's worth. My 3rd generation harvest exploded on me on Thursday so that's what changed the whole plan.

2L Starter is more with yeast

I think I am ok too. I used brewers friend and did 2L/206 grams of DME/for a gravity of 1.090 - But my beersmith was a little off so the SG is going to be a bit lower. Still trying to dial in my BHE. thanks for the feedback! :mug:

2L Starter is more with yeast

OK, long story. But my harvested 3rd generation 1056 was ****ed up on accident and I didn't trust it not to be contaminated. So with a brew day tomorrow evening I ended up just buying 2 packs of American Ale 1056 for an IIPA and throwing it in a 2L starter. I did the calculations on how much DME...

Great advise guys. Thank you. I am am so easily swayed. Going to give it a couple days and see what this yeast is up to.

FG Reached. Can I just Bottle it?

Target was 1.020 based off beersmith. And it's been at 16 for the last two days.

FG Reached. Can I just Bottle it?

You think it needs to cold crash a couple days? And I should have been more clear. It has been at 16 for a couple days. An afterthought too. Does it matter if the fg is stable if it's already below my target?

FG Reached. Can I just Bottle it?

Thanks Gents! yes, it has been stable last two days. TG was 1.020 and now its at 1.016. Also, it tastes great. Smells great. Think I am going to just cold crash it tonight and bottle it tomorrow. To be honest I am being impatient. But have a crazy week coming up and would like it done by...

FG Reached. Can I just Bottle it?

General question, have a brew that's 7 days from brew day. Final Gravity reached. Can I go ahead and cold crash it overnight and bottle the next day? Tight on time and wouldn't mind quick turnaround to bottle. Let me know your thoughts/questions. Cheers! Bobby...

Beer Idea using WLP002 English IPA.

Nice! I like that. How did it turn out with the German malts and American hops? I ended up brewing it anyway this morning. Turned out to be a good brew day. Now...we wait.

Beer Idea using WLP002 English IPA.

Ok, been homebrewing for about a year. All grain. 5 gallon system. I have wanted to use WLP002 for awhile and had a random inspiration. Battle of Britain was a huge win for Britain against Germany and a turning point for WWII. So figured what the hell. Make a recipe with a story...

Will Brew ferment out again post cold crash?

Just a follow up. Seems that theory was right. The Belgian only dropped another 1-2 OG after I let it sit for another 5 days at 72F. Definitely within the margin though. The beer ended up tasting great but needs a 2.0 version.

    Better Dry Hop Hop?

Great feedback. Mirrors my feelings on it too. I chose those hops to not make a trip to my HB shop. thinking I will take a gallon split batch and throw the tett in there and get weird. Do the rest with the cascade. Thanks all.

    Better Dry Hop Hop?

Doing a bitter pale ale. 5 gallons. 5.2 ABV. Brewed with Cascade and Columbus. I am planning on dropping some tettnanger .50 oz for about 4 days back to back prior to bottling. Is that a good hop for DH or should I just drop in more of the C hops? Thanks

Will Brew ferment out again post cold crash?

Thanks Beergolf... Using WLP530 If that's coming from Chris White I guess I should listen. Based off my work schedule this week I won't be able to bottle (yes I still bottle) till Friday. It will be interesting to see what happens. :mug:

Will Brew ferment out again post cold crash?

Thanks for the feedback! This is an All Grain 5 gallon brew in glass carboys. Moderate alcohol level. I think based off your response I will bring it back up to temp and check in about 5 days and see where I am. My hunch is it will finish out a bit more and utilize the dry hop better. We...

Will Brew ferment out again post cold crash?

Hey guys, long story short. I have a West Coast Belgian Ale 3 weeks into fermentation. I cold crashed it for 24 hours, took a SG reading. OG - 1.057 FG - 1.020 TG - 1.010 - 1.012 Do I put it back into fermentor for another week or so at 70-72F or is the damn thing done and nothing a...
