    Help building an IPA

Agreed. I figured it gives me a place to start, then I can start adjusting to my own tastes. It was just one IPA that really stood out in all the IPAs i've had, so something about the Magnum, Citra, and Apollo combination is "good" and I think I want to explore it.

    Help building an IPA

5 gallon, 5 gallon boil. Not solid on the efficiency, I think its been between 75-80% doing a modified BIAB with a 5gallon mastun. Which also brings me to a tiny limitation in that 13lbs of grain would be about my max.

    Help building an IPA

I tried this beer from from a smaller brewery in CA, they don't distribute here in TX so I e-mailed the head brewmaster and he said the following about it: I know the beer is 7.3% ABV and 73IBUs Around 15 on the SRM. The aroma of the beer is what hooked me. Bright citrus/pine without the...

    What are you drinking now?

Did you post that on Google+ earlier? I remember somebody saying almost the exact same thing. Who makes that beer? I mean, it looks awesome with its bright purple colors... some folks might even think you were drinking a 4loco or whatever.

Do new lawn mower blades need to be sharpened?

This is what I was planning on doing if the blade did, or does in the future, need sharpening.

Do new lawn mower blades need to be sharpened?

Actually, what made it so weird is that I didn't use the search function. I just "googled" my question into the internet at large and one of the first couple results was this HBT thread. They must have some awesome page ranking going on with this website.

Having a ball watching my fermentation in a carboy

I am always surprised and how much the water churns and "boils." with very active fermentation.

Do new lawn mower blades need to be sharpened?

Who knew a 4 year old thread on HBT would answer my home and garden question! I love this site!

    Stone at Costco

I wish mine had Sierra Nevada. I would prefer it to the Fat Tire. Otherwise its a spread of Sam Adams, Fat Tire, Dos Eqius, Corona, Bud, and (of all things) Mendocino Brewing Company's Pale Ale (can't remember the same).

    Blueberry Mead

My "giant" bag of frozen blueberries I used in the primary only weighed 4lbs. Since the recipe calls for 5lbs I was thinking of either tossing another 2lbs of smushed frozen blueberries OR maybe taking that same 2lbs and making a puree out of it and adding it that way for maximum flavor...

    favorite bourbons?

Makers Mark is my go to one because of the Cost to Quality Ratio. When I'm feeling spendy I buy Knob Creek, Knob is definitely my favorite but its just too expensive to keep on hand all the time.

    Doomsday scenario and brewing

Mead would be a much easier industry than beer making if you hit the end of the world. Of course you know all the honeybees are disappearing... indicating the end of the world is near.

    Doomsday scenario and brewing

y'all should take up bee keeping. Unlimited fermentables! I live by a lake so there's my water. I hope to buy a small hive sometime later this year. Water + honey + yeast= alcohol = Profit!
