    first all grain is GOOD!!

Congrats ! I am sure it will get even better in a few more weeks. The hard part is trying to save a few bottles until then... and the wait is just like making your first brew. Cheers.

    Corn Meal: DON'T

I don't disagree...but I am getting such a kick outta the possibilities with AG that I had to try something very light in colour and body. Also, this beer is a Frankenstien mish-mash of ingredients and an experiment for a few variables: Nottingham yeast in a lager-type wort, UV exposure, and a...

    Favorite Hop Combinations

I have switched to doing lagers via AG. So I have been holding to one type of hop for the lagers so that I can get to know them. All my previous beers were ales in which case I would use any stronger bittering hop and cascades for late addtions / aroma.

    Quick quetion on fermentation devices

I would recommend that when you transfer to the secondary and when you transfer to the bottling bucket that you do that upstairs. You will kick up seditment by moving the container up/down stairs. It will take days for the sediment to settle out again. Once you transfer to another...

    Making A Grain Mill

I just made one (no hopper yet). Use 2 equal drill bits for spacing: 1/16=0.0625 3/64=0.0469 1/32=0.03125 etc..... It takes the guess work out and will ensure equal spacing. My "finished" model is a solid, unadjustable version of: :https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=30670...

    Corn Meal: DON'T

I am heartened that it looks, smells and tastes like wort. Ya, I am actually thinking of a methodical why of skunking the beer. Perhaps 15 mins in sun (and take note for the UV index for the day)....and see what it takes like. I will publish the experiment once done. It won't be...

    Corn Meal: DON'T

Hey, I made a Corona clone last night (...I know....). Instead of flaked maize, I thought that corn meal may be a suitable substitution to add that little bit of flavour even though I wasn't expecting many gravity points from 500g. I boiled it for about 60 mns...and added it to the mash. It...

This is why I love teh CFL

The field is 110 yards long and 65 yards wide and each end zone is 20 yards deep. I also like the rule about returning a missed field goal -it gives a bit more flow to the game - and requires a bit more risk analysis if you are deciding on kicking long or in poor weather etc. Cheers.

    my copper manifold

I think a picture or two will help...its kinda hard to visualize. The manifold doesn't need to be perfect. Also, the weight of the water/grains will hold it in place firmly on the bottom of the cooler. Cheers.

    Hi, thinking about going AG

    My first AG crush

To adjust the crush, buy two drill bits that are the same....and stick them between the rollers. No need for a gauge. :-) 1/16" = 0.0625 3/64" = 0.047 1/32 = 0.031 Cheers.

    New Online Store

Hello, After searching all over Canada for various supplies and ingredients...and saw there was little choice, especially for southern Ontario....I had a crazy thought: Why not try to make a small online store ? Here are some ideas: -buy grains and hops in bulk and sell at a modest...

    Dry hop

I only dry hopped once...and it took about 14 days for the pellets to drop. On the 13th day I very gently swished the carboy and that helped to sink almost everything. Cheers.
