    Ok that makes sense thank you. I've brewed two biab a bag so far and both were below the targeted efficiency, was watching a youtube video were he purposely added less water to start, at the end added the water needed to be at his OG using a formula. Anyone done this for biab?

    I used this to calulate how much water I needed for my brew yesterday, I ended up with to much wort. About 1gal to much some was trub my kit was for 6gal why does it say transfer 6.5gal? I ended up with 1.042OG instead of 1.05.

    Efficiency, first time using hydrometer

    I dont know if you have but I would check your hyrometer zero, i did my first biab was was around 65% efficiency. A few days later I check my hyrometer and it was reading 6 points low, which bought my OG from 1.042 to 1.048.

    I would like to do only all grain batches but with the wife working from home now and have two kids under 5 my time is limited through the day. With warmer weather coming I hope to be able to brew once the kids go to bed. Also considering getting a electric system at some point that's abit more...

    First Time with Temperature Control

    I currently ferment in my unfinished basement, on my three fermenters I'm using a fermwrap, heating pad and seeding mat. The fermwarp works the best, with a controller I can set to any temp I want. I will probably replace the other two for fermwraps at some point.

    I did my first biab last week, I'm also from Canada and had similar temps when I did it. When I did my mash I used a winter sleeping bag, i started my mash at 156f and in 60min It dropped to around 150f.     I bought two 50l kegs I turned one into a keggle, I already have two spears I could use. How short would I want to cut? I plan on transferring under pressure to corny kegs and cold crashing. I read someone cut off a few inches to stay off the bottom.

    Just finished my first biab, everything went well. I ended up with 20.5L instead of the 23L. SG of 1.042 should I add water or let it go?

    I just finished my second brew and its now it the keg cooling. I have cleaned my fermenter and everything I used with oxiclean. I won't be putting on another kit until next week as I have another on now. My question is can I just sanitize everything next week and use it or should i clean...

    Fermenting temperature

    I just started brewing as well. I also brew in a unfinished basement that's around 12c. This is my setup, I have a fermwrap on one and heating pad on the other fermenter and insulated with foil. I have no problem keeping any temp I want with the controllers.

    When I do put the beer in the keg, do I pressurize it right away or wait until it cools down and force carbonate.

    I ordered a all grain kit and I'm going to do biab theres still a few days before it shows up and I have beer in the fridge, I'll keep in the fermenter until the kit shows up and I need the fermenter. First time doing biab looking forward to learning more. Thanks everyone for the replys
