    Fermenting Buffalo Sweat Stout...

Would you mind posting recipe? I used to live in Manhattan, Ks and loved Buffalo Sweat l. Even had it on tap. I just started homebrewing recently and thought that would be a fun recipe

Forgot to make tinctures ... fastest way to prep to add spices to keg?

So, take this with a grain of salt because I only just started brewing this year, but I kegged a gingerbread stout a few weeks ago and added spices to the priming sugar boil. I did a tincture but decided I needed more spice flavor when preparing to keg so I added a bit more in the priming...

    Northern Brewer - Buyer Beware

I will attempt to be fair to NB as I work in purchasing and have suppliers in the Milwaukee area. That market has been tough for labor since before the pandemic and it only made things worse. I have seen very much the same problems from my suppliers as it sounds like everyone is having with...

    Hello everyone

Welcome! There are a lot of rabbit holes to fall into, but pretty great information here.

    Spruce tip white stout?

Yes, no issues with my spruceontap order. Shipping is pretty expensive but everything arrived as I would have hoped.

    Priming with Maple Syrup

It’s October, so resurrecting this thread might be appropriate given the timing? Did you experiment with these different priming sugars and did you have any noticeable results? I’m considering using molasses for a gingerbread stout to prime and curious of whether it would add to the flavor.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewed my second all-grain today, a gingerbread coffee stout. First time using liquid yeast (wyeast 1099) and so far so good. Hit pretty close to target numbers and put the spices to soak in vodka while the yeast starts working.

    Spruce tip white stout?

I did make it but it’s still conditioning, so jury is still out. However I can say that I have not been able to taste the spruce in any of my samples yet. I’m 7 of 14 days into conditioning, I can certainly report on how it is once all the way done. I ended up putting in about 4oz of tips for...

    Unfermented wort recipe thread.

Resurrecting this thread…I was just thinking about using some wort for beer buttercream to go into a French macaron…maybe even a slight hint of cryo hops dusted in? My daughter came up with an idea to make macaron pairings with my beer because I enjoy making both, but was just thinking how...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewed my first all grain batch today in my new (to me) BIAB setup. Spruce tip ale. Everything was great until the tips clogged my transfer port, lesson learned on needing to keep those contained in the future! Didn’t hit the target numbers like I would have liked but smells like beer, so...

Well, looks like it's a done deal.

I’m with you. I’m not a full purist for it, and sometimes still go for a bigger regional, but I spend most of my fridge space not used on my own beer for local brewers within the state and preferably within an hour or two. The few that have become big are no longer very interesting and even...

Well, looks like it's a done deal.

You’re not wrong, just like a lot of restaurants many won’t make it. But we have also seen a fair number of the larger regional brewers sell after realizing the craft market was saturated and they couldn’t maintain the same presence in the space when competing with many smaller breweries eating...

Well, looks like it's a done deal.

The big regional craft brewers will keep seeing pressures like this to sell to much larger companies, and no judgement, I wouldn’t mind a $165M payout. but I think the future of craft is largely headed to hyper local, your brewers that don’t distribute nationally and for which you get to know...

The more I Home Brew the more I ...

I just started brewing myself, but I can sympathize with this. A big problem for me of what’s available on the shelves is that the Brewers seem to all be competing for most hops in a single brew because that seems to sell well. I like a good IPA but I like a balanced flavor as well. i think...

    What are you drinking now?

Sugar Creek Brewing Pumpkin Blaster. German style ale with nice malty roasted flavors and just a bit of pumpkin. I can’t help that I like all the pumpkin beers.

    Spruce tip white stout?

So, I am considering ditching the Kveik and going to a SafAle S-04. The more I read the more concerned I become that the yeast will negatively impact the body. Am I being too squeamish?
