    1st starter might have issues

Thanks Revvy OK I got ya. Great info. I didn't have a proper size jug so I used a plain old 1 gallon water jug. Being I used only 2 cups the band isn't really there but the yeast is on the bottom. Should I be able to visually see that the yeast as multiplied or is the goal to get the yeast to...

    1st starter might have issues

Hey Gang, So I decided to make a starter for the first time with WL300 for a Dunkle I was going to get started today. Yesterday at about 6pm I pulled my yeast from the refrigerator with the intent to make the starter at about midnight. I noticed at this time that I only had a little over 1/4...

none. Lol it had enough pressure from carbing even after I released some of it. Yep the one tab broke off.

Cleaning is not sanitizing - right?

I think there was a recent thread about this saying it is just a cleanser not a sanitizer. So yes https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f11/one-step-logic-cleaner-sanitizer-23791/ I use Star San for sanitizing.

    Shared my hefeweizen tonight

Yea it doesn't really need a fruit. I tried it last night with an orange slice, I wasn't really feeling it. I like it better as is. There's plenty of flavors to taste without fruit.

    just tried first brew...

Yea first time. A bit to much priming it seemed. But what I was able to get out of it was very good. Tasted a bit different then the bottles. I will use it again but be more precise about the carbing. it was Sw-06. But now that it's a week later I found no smell or taste of it.

    Damn Austin Homebrew Supply!!

Yea I saw that post too about using the kits within a month. Keep the LME refrigerated he said. Mine is in the basement at about 43 degrees. I wonder if freezing the LME has any bad effect? Anyone know?

LOL you mean this.... :p It was lemon. Two of the friends I had over like lemon in the Hefe so they brought one with them. It was good but I like it better without. I haven't had an orange slice which I want to try. I'm sure it will be fantastic. It was an extract kit. True Bruew...

Some friends stopped by and my Hefeweizen happen to be at 2 weeks bottled. I decided now was a good time to crack open a few bottles and see how the people like it. (fyi I had 1.5 gallons in a coors home draft kit that blew its safty valve yesterday and I had 2 drunk dogs on my hands. What...

How can we help eliminate misinformation on this site?

I've read the whole thread. I also run a forum for a record label that has about 10k active users. I found that any sort of rating system, from thumbs up/down, karma, pos / negs or any option to dislike something will only cause trouble. Take into consideration that the average user doesn't read...

Blow off tube popped out twice - help

If it's not in there tight enough it could pop out. My tube is pretty secure but I haven't had any explosive amount of bubbling going on. If there's that much pressure which caused the tube to blow out I would imagine air born yeast wont have a chance getting in to the carboy. However did you...
