    When I ferment with sugars I get a "cider" flavor. Hard to describe except for "cider" flavor. I'm ultimately trying to find new base saccharides to use for experimental fermentation. Lets say Mikes Hard Lemonade per say. What sugar do they use to create the base alcoholic mixture in that?

    Has anyone successfully converted a half barrel keg into a fermentation vessel? The rounded bottoms on those kegs seem like they would be perfect for putting a stainless steel valve on the bottom. And once the top has been removed I wouldn't see it too hard to convert that to a blow-off...

    I would fish him out and think nothing of it. Yeast is very good at killing and washing out unwanted microbes. I would be more scared of the movie "The Fly" then the fly.
