Can an igloo cooler be fixed?

Yes. I'm thinking the silicone the washer in place route. I found the food safe silicone on line at Grainger today. I'm going to swing by tomorrow. It looks like it's good to 400 deg.

Can an igloo cooler be fixed?

Thanks! I like the rigid washer for added support. Come to think of it, I may just silicone one of the two, large stainless washers that come with the bulkhead right to the inside wall to both seal the area and reinforce. I'll use the o-ring in between the washers to make the seal.

Can an igloo cooler be fixed?

so far I'm only seeing on the Momentive RTV108 MSDS for Thermal Decomposition: "can generate formaldehyde at approximately 300 degrees Fahrenheit (150'C) and above, in atmospheres which contain oxygen." I'm going to try to pick up a tube at Graingers on Monday and see what the tube says. It...

Can an igloo cooler be fixed?

I like the idea of silicone combined with a washer to reinforce the area. Another hobby of mine is salt water reef keeping so I have some familiarity with silicone. Some like GE 100% silicone are good for sealing as long as they don't have mold inhibitors like for kitchen and bath. Others like...

Can an igloo cooler be fixed?

Thanks Dan and bad67z. I wasn't sure if there was such a thing as food grade silicone. I'll start the search Monday. Meanwhile I'll drill a tiny hole at the end of the crack to keep it from spreading.

Can an igloo cooler be fixed?

I apologize if this is the wrong forum but I wasn't sure where else to put this question. I took apart the bulkhead on my 10 gal igloo cooler and noticed a small crack radiating from the circular hole where the bulkhead goes through. It's only on the white interior plastic but I expect it...

    Blichmann quick connects

PM sent. Update: Thanks for the quick reply. To anyone interested in getting these, I did not pull the trigger at this time because I just so happened to have ordered the one of these that I needed a few days ago. I believe they should still be available.

Came across this while Christmas shopping

I paid $9 and change. I've been wanting a set of these to add to my collection. I saw them on ebay for around $20 and was going to do it before I saw this. Their privacy statement is pretty solid. If I start getting spam they'll have lost a customer.

    Central Ohio Group Buy?

I would probably be up for a GB. Thougt about starting growing some hops also but I thought the time and space needed would probably be prohibitive. I go to the Wine Maker's Shop also. The small items like racking cane clips, carboy thermometer strips, washers and stands are what I find the...

Came across this while Christmas shopping

I thought the same thing so I read through the fine print and their privacy statement. It wasn't too bad. We'll see if they stick to it don't sell their info. If I start getting text spam I'll be pissed! After reading it I was still comfortable enough to go through with it.

Any brew clubs or groups in Columbus, OH?

Nice. If we have enough burners we may be able to brew outside this winter without getting cold! ;) Hoping Santa brings me a Blichmann burner with leg extensions this year.

ale temp drop during first 12 hrs

Same here. I came home to the airlock encased in a big blob of foam. The airlock didn't blow out but it was just hissing air out of the foam blob. Blowoff now installed.
