    What are you drinking now?

Devotion Blonde Ale: I really like this beer, and the light touch of Saaz hops are on point. Will buy this again. Inspires me to do some brews with these hops.

    Random Picture Thread

My first tilapia out at the local pond. Caught it on a 3" curly tail soft plastic.

Swelled can of crushed pineapple. What to expect ?

When in doubt toss it out (unless the world has turned into a post apocalyptic hell scape food desert, and even then I would think twice). Otherwise, why risk it?

What I did for beer today

Today I brewed a 1g all extract beer with 1/2 Pilsner DME and 1/2 Amber DME. Boil time 30+ minutes, Cascade hops 5.5g/4g/4g. Guess it's an American Amber Ale?

Tasting malts - Least amount of hops to add

You make a very good point. Two gallons or more would last longer than one gallon and a 1/2 gallon would go quicker still. Brewer's choice. Brewing without any hops is something to think about.

Tasting malts - Least amount of hops to add

I'm a new brewer doing 1g SMaSH brews to get a feel for malts and hops. So far I'm mostly using pale ale malt and have used Cascade, Amarillo and Tettnang hops. Looking to branch out to Vienna malt and two-row soon. News flash: They are all good so far, because beer is good, so it's a tall...

    Watching the air lock

LOL! Always with the sniffing. I just can't help myself. :)

What I did for beer today

Today I bottled a one-gallon all extract single hop (Amarillo) beer. Mixing things up a little bit from my recent all grain brews.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I just brewed the "Whitehouse Honey Ale" kit from Craft A Brew. It was delivered right to my doorstep off of Amazon. so why not brew it today? LOL Here's a blurb from Amazon: PRESIDENTIAL ALE – Fit for discerning beer drinkers and diplomats alike! This White House Honey Ale features a golden...

    I'm a believer now.

Week Night Brew with BrewDemon Kit

Well, I gave this brew plenty of time to bottle condition and it paid off. This turned out really nice. I would brew this again for a quick brew day.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I just brewed my fourth one gallon all grain BIAB single hop (cascade) pale ale beer. It would have been a SMaSH but I used mostly pale ale malt with a little bit of Munich malt left over from another brew. This is my first time using Irish Moss in an all grain brew.

    Dig Tussy

This home brewing hobby has led to a beer drinking/exploration hobby as well. Win/win. As a result, I happened upon this a nice little cream ale with a cool little touch of vanilla: The back story here is that the Heidi-Frank listed on the can are morning DJs here in LA, and my wife is a bit...

Week Night Brew with BrewDemon Kit

Thanks. I can't help but give these a few more weeks. Most likely I will pick them off one by one over time. There are plenty of brews to choose from at this point.

Week Night Brew with BrewDemon Kit

The final analysis for me is that this beer is OK. It's got some hoppy bitterness and some of the maltiness comes through as well. Probably best with a food pairing, and probably not at its best as a stand alone drink. I probably won't brew this again (at least for a while) and will instead move...

    Carbonating JAOM

I like fizzy stuff. Has anyone tried carbonating JAOM? I can't find anything about it anywhere. Any one here tried doing it with fizzy tabs? Is this a potential bottle bomb? I just think carbonation would take it to the next level (hopefully not the ceiling of course).

What are you listening to (music!!!) right now? Embarrassing or not... share

This one is poppy as heck and there's a naughty word in there, but it is really catchy: It became an ear worm for me (yes, I first heard it on a Sunday beer tasting), so much so that I had to do a jam over the progression:

New member doing first BIAB SMaSH

Shout outs to @McKnuckle & @BrewZer, giving it a little more time seemed to really help this brew. The wife and I enjoyed this along with some homemade burgers tonight. So much for snap (early) judgements

BIAB - Cascade SMaSH Pale Ale

At the risk of being an annoying new brewer who uses the forum as a journal for his brews, I will carry on and apologize from the outset. :) I just put a gallon of this brew in the little big mouth bubbler today, using the "Brew Better Beer" Amarillo SMaSH Pale Ale recipe with a few...

OK, bottled this today. I promised myself that I would be patient and allow this to bottle condition properly. :)
