    My first fat tire

I am not a fan of NB.. I cannot stand FT. I try it every now and again, thinking "so many like it, maybe its me?" and still, I cannot stand it. 1554 is OK Broken Arrow Pale is the only thing I've had from them that I enjoyed Mothership is no bueno Sunshine is off, not sure what is wrong with...

    Re-introduction of Soperbrew

I guess the wife made plans for us to Apache Lake next weekend.

    Re-introduction of Soperbrew

I probably will be, but since I am in Knoxville for work (last minute) right now, I have not really had the time to think about it/order supplies. I will let you know for sure this week. Awesome! Hopefully we can all get together for a few beers =)

Benifits of having a larger CO2 bottle?

I agree.. I actually keep a larger tank and keep a 5lb tank for when I run out on the bigger one.

Benifits of having a larger CO2 bottle?

The only downsides I can think of are the larger size to deal with.. and if you get a leak in a keg or something, you will drain a huge tank instead of a small one.

OK, I'll admit it. I will probably never brew an IPA.

Before I started to brew, I really did not like hoppy beers. I loved brown ales, stouts, porters, etc. When I started brewing, I started picking up more and more commercial beers to get a good feel for different styles. Now I really enjoy hoppy beers. Not to say I dislike the previous beers, but...

    cleaning false bottom

Yeah, you are good to go. Unless there is mold growing in it, dead mice or anything like that, I wouldn't even think to wash any of my kettles =)

    cleaning false bottom

The mash tun is pre-boil. No need to sanitize. I Just rinse well to get the chunks out and air dry.

Which kegging system should I buy?

+1 I would also recommend contacting them to talk about budget and what exactly you are looking to get. I had a few parts already when I called them, and they worked it out so I didn't buy stuff I didn't need and I was able to upgrade my taps to perlicks. Great guys, and well worth a contact!

    Natural carbed keg question

The pressure is probably crazy high when its warm like that. You want to chill it so that co2 gets absorbed into the solution better. Just like with bottles.

    Free (for most) Newcastle Glass.

Nope, I actually forgot until you revived this thread!

Can i let this lager cool overnight and pitch in the morning?

Yeah, an ice water bath would be much faster then the fridge.. but a starter is a good idea too.

Can i let this lager cool overnight and pitch in the morning?

It might be a bit late to reply.. but maybe an ice bath to get the temp down quickly?

How often do you clean your beer lines?

Depends on the keg.. When my pipeline is full, and we are active.. we kick a week (give or take). When thats the case, I sometimes just hook up another keg and flush the line with beer. I do clean them about once a month, and I usually clean them all at once. I fill a keg full with hot water and...

Help! Forgot to add honey at flameout!

Yeah, go ahead and heat it up with some water and add it in. I've done that before =)

Better Bottle scum, how do you get rid of it?

Another for Oxyclean.. but be careful on your water temp. Those bottles will warp (or worse) if your water is too hot. I've not had this issue, but others have posted pictures here of their better bottles.

    Quick, Emergency brew help?

I would check it at 7 days and see if its done fermenting, and how it tastes.. If its not ready, let it sit longer and do the shake and bake carb method. If its good at 7 days, keg it on the set and forget method (I think it tastes best in this method, but only if the beer is ready at 7 days). I...

    Shipping Costs!

Yeah, I think just about any standard cooler is going to fill the function here. I've seen round ones, square ones, rectangle ones. Find a cheap one and roll with it! As far as burners go, check restaurant supply places. Look for anything 55k btu and over. The crazy high btu ones are OK too...

You would be pushing it on the irish red.. You could bang out a low grav wheat beer (hefe) in 2 weeks.
