    Naming your beer

Do you name every batch, or just each recepie that you use? On one hand, I would hate to 'finish off' a batch that had a name ... but on the other hand, I haven't yet done the same recepie twice, so maybe it's no problem. Right now I have a "bitter end adventure ale" - a traditional canadian...

    Time to bottle?

Is there risk of off-flavours from the gunk at the bottom of the secondary? Or is it mostly the primary that has this concern if left too long? Keegan

    Bottles or Pressure barrel

I'm curious about the bottling bucket - what characteristics make a bottling bucket different from a plastic primary fermenter, and thus why do you want them seperate? Thanks, Keegan

    Time to bottle?

I have a simmilar issue... I have a high-gravity ale that has been in the secondary 3.5 wks now - after 1-2 wks in the primary. It hasn't fermented vigorously since the primary, but continues to ever-so-slowly release a small peppering of very tiny bubbles. It had high initial gravity, and I...

    carbonation question......

Thanks Bryan, I was thinking along some of the same lines .. my beer is stored warmish but cools as it travels through the line (not ideal setup I know, but it's what I have). To keep it carbonated at this higher temp, I keep it near 20psi. It seems to come out at a resonable rate, and a good...

    carbonation question......

    > If I bump up the pressure to around 10psi, it comes out too fast, but that is the only time I get foam. With it set at 5 psi, it trickles out and hardly any foam. Inside of glass has plenty of bubbles though. Too fast? How can you pour beer too fast? Beer flowing too slowly sounds like...

    Maximizing "kit" beers

BTW, here's the site of the brew house kits http://www.thebrewhouse.com/index.htm They are apparently all grain, created in a trad micro-brew setting, and packaged fresh. dunno if it's hype or not... but it is sure easy to brew, and a resonable price. I'll let you know how mine turns...

    Source of gaskets?

Anyone have luck finding replacement gaskets for thier kegs at a hardware store or something? 2 of my kegs aren't sealing around the lid edge, so I hope a new ring will help this. I see I can mail order rebuild kits for cheap... but it seems silly have to mail order $3 worth of stuff...

    cooling soda-dispenser for kegs?

BTW... Is anyone familiar with the cooling/dispensing system I'm talking about? I would like to find more info on it, but haven't had much luck searching the net. I don't actually know what it is called, and cannot find a name on it. It has 4 pop taps, a compressor and fan in the back...

YO keggers--Force carbonation step by step?

ah! found the table here: http://www.northernbrewer.com/docs/pdf/corny-keg.pdf

YO keggers--Force carbonation step by step?

Let it sit 3-5 days?!! Well, I had my first homebrew from tap yesterday. I kegged, forced it at 30+ psi, shook it a lot... and since it is a new system to me... it was painful to wait ALL that time before testing it out. I would guess probably an HOUR. (during which the keg warmed up a...

YO keggers--Force carbonation step by step?

Hey guys, Well, I'm pretty happy - now in posession of a keg system! I've given everything a good cleaning and figgured out how it all goes together. It has pepsi / corny kegs. The only thing that was a bit annoying, is that it seems that the "in" and "out" posts are different sizes...

    cooling soda-dispenser for kegs?

I think it should be fine. As the keg warms, without venting, the PSI will increase (pV=nRT if i recall the gas laws), and the CO2 is dissolved less easily in the beer... but overall, the same amount of CO2 is in the keg, so carbonation stays about the same. I guess I was thinking that the...

    cooling soda-dispenser for kegs?

I think that's a good point bryan. Thanks for the thoughts both. I've worked out a decent deal with the guy, that I am happy with for the kegs, taps, and regulators, even without the cooler - so if the cooler doesn't really work well, I'll be cool with that anyway, and buy a fridge...

    Not mixing in yeast?

Ah, okay, thanks. It's actually "all grain" wort, ie: no work for me except adding the yeast and hop... not an extract. Perhaps I'm not using the correct terminology? So, if I make a starter, and dump it in, it effectively mixes itself somewhat rather than sitting on the top, but this...

    Not mixing in yeast?

I got an bag of all-grain wort and a recipe for stout. It came with a dry yeast and says to sprinkle it on top, and to not stir it in. I was thinking of buying a liquid yeast, or at least hydrating and creating a starter of the dry yeast, but ... is there any conceivable reason they wanted...

    cooling soda-dispenser for kegs?

Okay, thanks Janx. Maybe I was getting too excited by the idea of having beer on tap by ... this weekend! Unless he cuts me a better deal, maybe I won't go for it. I think the taps would be suitable for beer (you pull on it, the beer comes out. If the fridge is on, it's cold. anything...

    cooling soda-dispenser for kegs?

Thanks again Janx. It looks promising. The fellow was using it for pop, and it definitely would need a very thorough cleaning. It looks suitable for beer, as it is the old style pop setup - not with syrup. I guess I'll just have to decide if it is worth the money. He's asking $200 (CND)...

    cooling soda-dispenser for kegs?

Ok, thanks for the thoughts. I guess I'll know more tonight. Some of the taps I've seen are just small black plastic, thumb operated, looked like they would be maybe only a few dollars each, so even if I had to replace that part, it might not be a big deal? I think I can probably condition...
