    Offgassing cider? Odd smell.

Somthing else I meant to say is apparently before I was drinking my cider fast enough the oxygen didn't hurt anything. I am so used to the the idea from wine that the best thing you can do is just let it set longer. Apparently that's not true with cider at least if you are making it in plastic...

    Offgassing cider? Odd smell.

I tasted it, super dry with just a hint of burnt caramel. I went a head and added the AJ concentrate and put some gas in the keg. Hopefully it wont get any worse. I also aged this batch longer be fore it went in the fridge. I was thinking that should be a good thing but when you are using...

    Offgassing cider? Odd smell.

OK well if it is either of those it probably isn't going to just evaporate away is it? I will give it a taste and as long as it just taste really dry I will back sweeten it and let it naturally carb. Should I put come co2 in the head space or does the yeast need the oxygen to process the new...

    Offgassing cider? Odd smell.

Yeast and just a hint of earthy almost musty smell. It is good and clear and there was no mold. Does anyone else usually off gas their cider or is there no need? I never have before.

    Offgassing cider? Odd smell.

I have it closed and a trap connected to the gas port. Will it naturally carb with CO2 in there? I thought yeast needed oxygen. I guess I should taste it, it never tastes good before I sweeten it but I know what it should taste like.

    Offgassing cider? Odd smell.

Hello. I am a super green newb at homebrewing, been at this cider making about 6 months. My usual routine is to add yeast, nutrient and clarifier enzyme to a container of store bought juice, let it set until it quits bubbling and or gets a specific gravity of one or less. I would then cold...

PSI of naturally carbed cider? (First time kegging with a bottling question also.)

Hello, my homebrewing odyssey continues. I make cider using store bought apple juice and DADY. It works fine and I haven't had any problems but so far I have just been brewing in the bottles the apple juice comes in. Currently I have a bunch of cider in the jugs the apple juice came in. It has...

I am trying to make EDWORT’S APFELWEIN for the first time. I followed this recipe EdWort's Apfelwein I let it ferment for about 2 months, I have cold crashed and racked and re-racked it. It taste like burnt coffee. Does anyone back sweeten this or do you just put in enough sugar to make it...

Finished my keezer just to scrap it

Consider it a practice run. Hopefully everything goes that much smoother on the next build with the new freezer. Much like cars that "ran when parked" often develop mysterious problems it seems appliances aren't happy when they are just setting. BTW we love keezer/ kegerator pics!

    What size are "beer nuts"?

I assume this is one case where stainless or plates really wont make a difference? The nut should hold the tailpiece against the gasket and the shank. I don't see how the beer would actually touch it. I know what 7/8 14 is. What does bspp stand for?

How to strip aluminum bottles for re-use...a guide

This reminds me I keep watching my local farm supply store to see if they ever put their store brand brake parts cleaner on sale again. Is is carbon tet and co2. That stuff makes a great gun cleaner and when you find it on sale the store brand stuff is WAY cheaper than any cleaner with the word...

    What size are "beer nuts"?

These guys list 2 different sizes. What is the standard size that fits on faucet shanks and couplers coming out of jockey boxes? Or are their multiple sizes for this "standard"? Nuts For Beer, Wine, Ale, Aren't We All?

Picnic Taps. Am i A Bad person?

I'm planning to copy some other gentleman's rig. 2.5 gallon keg in the fridge with a Perlick 690 hooked to the keg. My beer line will consist of a disconnect, an adapter and a faucet. Should not be too hard to clean and with it being refrigerated I am hoping it wont need cleaned all that often...

Do Perlick taps require special shanks?

Thank you! Also thanks for this note on the 2" shank " Due to the way the standard measurements are made, this shank can accommodate a wall thickness of .5". " That gives me somthing to work with. I will measure the wall of the cooler and go from there.

Do Perlick taps require special shanks?

Glad to know the Intertap springs will work with Perlicks. I have one flow control faucet a Perlick 690SS. I haven't used it yet but I have it mounted to one of those adapters that fits on to a disconnect. It fits fine and even has enough room for the creamer action to work (I can push the lever...

How to tell difference between stainless and chrome Perlick forward sealing faucets in a photo?

I have a Perlick SS faucet and it is shiny as all get out. Looks like chrome. Only numbers I have been able to get were patent numbers. There are 500 series Perlicks. I have been trying to get a pic of the inside of the faucet but no luck so far.

Do Perlick taps require special shanks?

One more thing, this particular company has a very attractive model they use for a lot of their pictures. No complaints from me. Everything is tastefully done...at least that's what I thought until I went looking for parts for Corny kegs. I have so many questions. Are they drowning tiny women...

Do Perlick taps require special shanks?

Thank you. That is what I thought. This is what I am looking at 2-1/8"x1/4" Bore All Stainless Beer Faucet Shank with nut 304SS Krome C212 I can't see any reason it would not work with a Perlick tap. One other question I had that they did not answer is how thick of material can you mount this...
