    Priming?

I'm sure a few people use corn syrup from time to time, but I don't know the ratio. For the little bit of sugar that goes into priming, regular table sugar will work without causing a cidery taste. Boil 3/4 of a cup in a cup of water, or use the DME at 1 1/4 cups.

    Priming?

Quick, eh? Ask and you shall receive. 1.25 cups of DME per five gallon batch. BTW: it is corn sugar that is recommended at 3/4 cup.

    welding a keg, advice

Gosh, great blog page! Sanke kegs are just your typical 15.5 gallon beer kegs like you made your boil kettle out of. Keg + kettle = keggle. Cornelius (or Cornie) kegs are soda kegs that people keg up their beer in. You are filling a couple of them 3/4s of the way down on your brew page. The...

    welding a keg, advice

Knewshound: Hey there! Welcome to the forum. If I'm not mistaken, runhard wants to turn his Sanke keg into a Cornelius keg. You know, with all the ball (or pin) lock fittings, etc. Nice outfit you have there! You might as well now just post about turning a keg into a keggle like you...

I think I want to give wine a shot...

Mine took affect (or is it effect. I can never keep this straight) instantly back in November. I used PayPal. Send TXbrew a private message and I'm sure he will activate your status. I'm sure Walker is correct, in that the Island Mist kits are a bit coolerish. With summer approaching, that...

I think I want to give wine a shot...

Oops... sorry Stefan! I see up the thread what your name is... Make all the Liquid Panty Remover you like. In fact, if you were a Stephanie, I still wouldn't care... We might just ask for pictures of the results, though... ;)

I think I want to give wine a shot...

Walker, I'm going to bottle mine in a couple of months or so. Using an autosiphon and tilting the carboy, allowed me to get right down to the bottom without picking up much trub. Actually, I think winemakers call trub, lees. I'm not going to worry about getting so close to the bottom when...

I think I want to give wine a shot...

Did you add the extra 1/4 tsp of sulphite to the tertiary? I did, cuz I plan on saving some of these bottles for a few years. A few years may well turn out to more like ten for some of them. I didn't have to top up with anything when racking into the secondary. I may have had a hair over...

After Making Beer Ever Lighter, Anheuser Faces a New Palate

    irish moss mess up?

"I'll wait it out, and strain and hope for the best." When you strain, don't use a strainer. Just rack it over to the secondary with an auto-siphon or racking cane (leaving the trub and gunk in the bottom behind). Straining through a strainer will aerate the wort, which you don't want to do...

    Greetings from Utah!

Karen, Considering Utah's rather arcane liquor laws, brewing your own should be twice as much fun. Welcome to the forum! I like your sig line: "Making friends one glass at a time." I hear they have bumper stickers in New Orleans saying: "Rebuilding New Orleans, One Beer at a time." I'm...

pics of my second brew.. partial mash

I saw these pictures the other day, but didn't have time to post. Good job! Wish I could find a special lady friend that could do that.... :mug: Oh, that carboy on its end like that kinda freaks me too... ;) I stand mine upside down in a box with a clean towel in the bottom...

I can't believe nobody ever answered your question. So what did you end up doing? Did you try refermenting it?

    Hi from San Diego

Welcome! I hear San Diego is a beautiful place. Home brew and the ocean, you can't ask for much more than that. Sorry I can't help with kegerator questions. I'm working on a three tier brew rig at the moment. After that is completed, then I can move on to a kegerator. Looking forward to...

    Headin' South Boys...

EP, you driving down there? If you are.... and if you are a gun owner, whatever you do, be VERY careful not to even have one loose shotgun shell rolling around under your seat. They will hang your arse out to dry if they even find a tiny 22 rimfire round on you. Strange but true.... Have a...

    Stainless stell Brew pots question

I thought about that. Just figured that using it in a boil pot with boiling wort (only) shouldn't hurt. I agree that the heat resistant plastic ones are the way to go.
