    Another ammature question

So it's more of a reminder, or check list thing than an actual "alarm" I'd you will. It's not like having an alarm is a vital part of a brew session, more of a personal preference in a brewing procedure?

    Another ammature question

Question: why the temperature alarm from the pid? Isn't that what the pid does, control the temp, turning on and off the element to keep a constant temp? So what is the alarm for? Again, newbie here, my panel is all laid out and wiring is started, just wondering. As always, thanks for all the...

Does anyone WHIRLPOOL when transferring to secondary???

I'm a little confused. When I brew a beer, I do use a secondary, personal preference I know, but I feel I get a lot clearer beer that way, again, my opinion and probably ignorance. But I have brewed many batches and have never had inconsistency that would negate me to want to introduce anything...

    PID on sale on Amazon

I don't have and hands on experience per say, but I have researched them on various forums. Everything I get from people that have them is that they work very well, except for the fact that that model does not have a manual mode for the BK. Don't know how cheap they were on amazon, but you can...

    Auber timer question

Ok re-reading I got my wiring wrong in my explanation, but I knew what I meant! Thanks again!

    Auber timer question

So in reality, since I already have a switch to the left of the timer used to shut the alarm off, and that switch has NO/NC contact blocks on it, to achieve what you are doing, I literally have to wire the NC contact block to the relay and com blocks and place another label on and be done with...

    Auber timer question

Awesome idea, less space on the panel too, as far as the "junk" parts go, I hear you, just can't get my wife to buy into me keeping stuff! Thanks for the idea

    Auber timer question

10-4, thanks, kinda figured it was not needed, but that's the great thing about the forum, usually you put it out there and someone has already been down that road, thank you.

    Auber timer question

I did see it had a pause, and reset button both, I guess I didn't know if there was an advantage on having panel mounted momentary switches or not. Thanks again guys

    Auber timer question

Hey guys, anyone have an Auber timer they are currently running that you put the momentary pause and reset button on? Just wondering if having the pause and reset buttons is a bling factor, or if you generally use one, both, or none. If you do use both push bottoms, or one for that matter I'd...

    professional electric setup

Top notch setup, most of the controllers that are discussed about and or built on this site were somewhere in its infancy a vision if the electric brewery's setup. It's awesome! Wiring my own as we speak

    Control panel cooling/ventilation fan

So the box is ajar, or sealed up and doing a good job of drawing and exhausting air?

    Control panel cooling/ventilation fan

How is having a heat sink rigged, but having to leave the door open to keep components cool not rigged?? Gong back to you computer reference, is your computer ajar? No, the entire enclosed with all components working at peak wattage, voltage and amperage were taken into consideration when...

Ready to get this party started... with tons of help of course

Ahh, so my in logical thinking was right!! I can run the 50 amp from a 30 amp feed, especially for the $ I'll be saving, awesome, yeah, up here in trout ville, I work in kannapolis, I'll pm you my #, by the way, I'm pretty much following Kals build sheet, I just took the amp and volt meters out...

Ready to get this party started... with tons of help of course

Ok pj, point well taken on the safety first, and it does make sense for the on line protection on both legs. See the reason I ask, I have a line on a deal for a 50 amp spa panel for 10 bucks, I have no need for 50 amp, and my ebuild is almost complete as far as parts gathering goes, so as far...

Ready to get this party started... with tons of help of course

Hey pj, quick question as I am trying to figure this deal out too, but why the need of breakers in the control panel if your using 50 amp service? Does that change if you use a isolated spa panel too, or if you use an external panel do you still need breakers in your control panel. Thanks !

    first brew question

I am by no means a brew master, I've only been doin this about 8 months, but I learned this on my second brew, ignore the airlock! I know how you feel, if it's farting away your happy cause it's doing something! But just be patient, wait a week to 10 days and take a hydrometer reading, that's...

    Fans instead of heat sinks?

Awesome info, thanks again, makes sense now, I think??? The reason we use ssr's is because the solid state relay will switch at a voltage the pid can give out right? (3-24v) that switches to 110 which powers the 110 v coil on the relay switch , relays themselves need more power to open/close...

    Fans instead of heat sinks?

Wait, one more popped into my little brain, how come in the electric brewerys' control box, they have the two relays controlled from the pid mounted to the heat sink, but the 3 relays controlling the two tanks and main power are just mounted to the bottom?

    Fans instead of heat sinks?

Hey thanks guys, that's why I went right here. Not really a money or space issue, just knowledge I guess. I try to educate myself as much as I can before I jump into a project. Hope to post pics of my unit (s) soon. Thanks again
