    Saison Shipwrecked Saison

Hello, Finished by midnight producing this batch :) The only thing that worries me was the OG result: 1056...close but not close enough. Its fermenting at 20ºC :) Thanks again for the recipe. Loved the crushed coriander smell :)

I must have had very happy yeast

Great to hear that but you must have a leak somewhere. :) Mine went crazy in the last days. It fermented on the first bucket for 4 days and then I passed to the second fermenter. After almost a week of no activity at all, it started bubbling again :)

    Fermentation generates heat?

Hi guys, I'm fermenting a Duvel look a like beer and I've noticed that the fermentation temperature was 4-5 degrees higher than the room temperature. I can only assume that the fermentation process generates heat. After 2 days bubbling like a AK-47 with unlimited ammo (sugar candy has...

and we do have a problem...mold?

Thank you guys for the help. I just opened the beer and I have to agree with you guys. It did look like yeast. Either way, I've tasted and I was very, very pleased with the result. A present flavour of hops and some bitterness at the end. The colour is a typical wheat beer, so I'm very happy...

and we do have a problem...mold?

Hello all, Well, two weeks after bottling and I was going to put one beer on the refrigerator to see if the beer is going well. But, on every bottle, I've found this little fella's... I haven't opened yet but they look like little particles of mold. If I move a bottle, these...

    My first Wheat Beer

Hi guys, Thanks for your comments. :) I agree with you, I'll stick with the Ale's for now. The hot summer in Portugal is great, but not really for fermenting :) I'm measuring the temps around the apartment to check if I can try to do this process in a cooler division. My next recipe will be a...

    My first Wheat Beer

Thanks for the comment :) I'll have to find a way to ferment lagers. The problem is the fact that I'm lacking on space for an extra refrigerator...I really need to change the apartment...in the meanwhile, I'll be making Ale's. The next one will be a Duvel recipe :) Regarding the pictures...

    My first Wheat Beer

Thanks for the comment :) I also have a spigot and ended by using it. The hops layer was bellow it so I used the spigot instead.

    My first Wheat Beer

Hello! I've just bottled the beer! :) And now, we just wait 3 weeks for the first test. I'm reading the "How to Brew" book and I've found that my fermentations are always out of the standard temp. This one is a lager and the fermentation temperature occurred between 24º...

    A Technique to Filter Wort

Thanks for the technique! :) I'm going to try this to filter the remaining wort and hops that I have on my fermenter.

    My first Wheat Beer

Hi RM, Thanks for the tip :) Instead of using the bottom fermenter tap, I'll siphon from the top to avoid any settlement. Cheers, Rui

    My first Wheat Beer

Hello all, Last Sunday I tried to make my very first all grain wheat beer :rockin: Thankfully, I faced only a couple of problems. 1º -The enormous amount of hops floating freely on the cooking pan (yeah, next time I'll use the bags :D). I still have to solve that problem btw... 2º -...

    Hello from Portugal :)

Thank you all for the welcome :) Darren, thanks for the tips. I've saved a few for a test in half a year. Maybe that was my problem. ;) Regarding the lagers, I've been successful fermenting them at 26-27º. Will the taste be affected? Union, I'm crazy for the IPA's and I sure will try to make...

    Hello from Portugal :)

Hello! My name is Rui and I share the same pation as you all: Home Brew ;) I'm a freshman at this process. I started on April with the Brewferm Diabolo kit, then a Muntons Wheat and, for the last, a Brewferm Ambiorix. To tell you the truth, I was becoming a little bit disappointed to...
