My own Keezer build! Does this seem right?!

Yes, I got that backwards in my original post. I apoligize. Waiting on the controller and manifold from Chicompany! Building a hop trellis in the meantime. The coffin build sounds like a great idea! Putting a collar on it for now. It's going to hang out in the garage for now, so all...

My own Keezer build! Does this seem right?!

It says Wood's on the handle. WC Woods on the sticker inside. Model UWC10-ZL/E date is listed as 9506. R12 refrigerant hope that helps

My own Keezer build! Does this seem right?!

Quick plug for www.cornykeg.com, just got 4 cornies from these guys, and they are GREAT! They're refurbing COCA-COLA kegs, so they're a little shorter, and 1" fatter then the PEPSI kegs. They also manufacture and replace to ball lock sockets for them. They are color coded and the disconnects...

    Insidethefreezer

Only have a gas cylinder and 1 keg, so I cut corny templates to see what kind of space I would have. Looks like room for 7 kegs! :)

My own Keezer build! Does this seem right?!

jlandin - thanks for the link! This thing will nickel-dime ya death huh? Not that I'm complaining I can't wait to get this thing going!!! Quick Question - why did you go with the Love controller over a freezer thermostat? MBasile - the 35' of Air Line I was hoping would cover both sides. In...

My own Keezer build! Does this seem right?!

Got a craigslist find, and can't pass it up! So, I was parting out the hardware for it, and I just want to make sure I'm on the right track. Here it is: I already have a kegging system for one keg w/ picnic dispenser & CO2 reg. (you experts will notice the parts don't add up) So here's my...

    Hop bushes.

My neighbor grows his horizontally on a split rail fence, he is no more then five feet high and our shared side looks like the outfield wall of Wrigley. I don't think height is the issue as much as letting the bines grow as long as possible. If your neighbor sprays round up on them they are...

hop rhizomes planted 2 weeks ago. nothing shooting up yet

+1 to waiting. I have 7/8 rhizomes coming up right now and the one I lost is the one I dug around to see what it was doing, pretty sure I broke off a couple shoots while lookin and wish I hadn't. Keep them moist, and be patient, their mostly focusing on root development now anyways.

    National Homebrew Day May 1........

AHS Texas Red. Brewing for a couple neighbors that were wondering if I was cooking meth in my backyard :) Sharing some Pale Ale and Irish Stout as I brew.

    Hop Alternatives?

I did a fennel pale ale. It worked really well. Should have saved some for aroma'ing but the anise flavor worked out nice, and definitely different. I think dill would go nice in a pilsner or hefe, not sure about solo but at least alongside hops. Basil and/or Oregano would be good candidates...

    fermented orange juice?

Sounds like a lot of work for screwdriver! Smirnoff works well for me :) I know, not the same! Good luck on your effort

    Irish Moss (from a nursery)

Ah well it looks good by the hops :)

    Irish Moss (from a nursery)

Another Irish Moss thread! I saw some flats of Irish Moss at the nursery and it looked like good edging for my hop bed, so I got some. Does anyone know how to harvest it? All the Irish Moss I've ever used comes in like pill form. I imagine there is a drying process but since I have it now...

    Others "trying" your homebrew

I have not run into that problem at all. My dad even went to judging school to give me better feedback. I haven't felt comfortable giving beer to co-workers so I don't have experience there. I think you should label differently or provide instructions. My cousin handed out pints of Apricot Ale...

Yeast from carboy for bread making

I partial wash my trub for bread. I have made a sourdough starter from my Wheat Beer recipe and also pizza dough. If I am keeping the yeast I will boil 2 cups of water prior to siphoning. Cool it to room temp, and using a sanitized 1 quart pitcher I will scoop up whatever I can get in one...

Tips on Buying in Bulk - What are the "Staples"?

Yeah, it's pretty fun. The SWMBO thought she'd like home coffee roasting, so I got all the hand-me downs! :rockin:

Tips on Buying in Bulk - What are the "Staples"?

I was in your spot awhile back and not to start an all grain vs extract discussion, look into all grain brewing though before you load up on a bunch of extract. Don't get me wrong you can make some excellent extract beers I still make a few myself. I went to load up on some DME, and...

Help me name my beer please!

Had to google pumpernickel to know just what it is. Turns out it originated in a little town in Germany in the 1400s so how about "Westphalia Porter"?

So I'm drinking a Busch Light.........

We had a saying at the Rolla Kappa Sig house: Lights - Natty, Busch, Coors - for quantity Crafts - for quality. It originated based on cost. As in if you are gettin hammered no reason to do it at 9 bucks a 6 pack, that's what Natty or Busch Light is for. Save the premiums for a meal or when...
