    Rinse after Sanitising?

I've used no-rinse sanitizer and have sometimes rinsed and other times not and have never had any problems... but +1 on using preboiled water, if you are worried about it.

    back from Ireland, beer report

Cool. Corrib village is a pretty nice place, and pretty close to the heart of downtown. I haven't been to a match, but I watched a lot on tv while I was there. It is played with a soccer ball, but it can be carried. It has to be bounced depending on how may steps you've taken, and you can score...

    back from Ireland, beer report

Galway Hooker also has a sweet website: http://www.galwayhooker.ie/site/warning/flash/ I've been trying to get a sweatshirt. I have a glass my SWMBO nicked for me!

    back from Ireland, beer report

Are you off to NUIG, Davis? I spent 3 months in Galway last summer... it was fantastic! I agree with Galway Hooker. Everyone I was with thought I was crazy drinking it, as they downed their Heinekens, but I absolutely love the stuff. If you're in Galway, you don't have to go to Cork for...

    Score!!

A homebrewing friend of my brother's just messaged me telling me he is selling most of his equipment... I get to reap the benefits! 2 corneys, CO2 tank, regulator, 2 taps and all kinds of tubing for a couple hundred bucks... sweet! Looks like I'll be putting another couple taps into the kegerator!

    Dry Hopping Questions

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I think this is relevant. I have not dry hopped yet, but I've read about dry hopping in the secondary and dry hopping in the keg. With the latter, has anyone ever had any off flavours from having hops in the keg for too long (for example if one ages the...

    Brewing withdrawl... 6 more months

Just cracked the Greene King IPA. It's a very nice russet, copper colour. Nice head on the pour, but it was pretty short lived. Great clarity. Citrusy hops on the nose, as well as a nutty malt character. The initial maltiness is overwhelmed by hops. Finish is tart, hoppy and refreshing...

    Brewing withdrawl... 6 more months

Hey everyone, I'm in Scotland for the summer and can't brew! This forum is where I get my fix, looking at what you guys are brewing greedily. I've figured that since I can't brew, I might as well drink. So, on a recent trip to Glasgow I sampled a bunch of cask ales: Deuchar's IPA (awesome)...

    WORST Non-homebrew you've had!

I can't believe Beamish is on this! I love the stuff! I spent the summer of 2007 in Galway, Ireland and couldn't get enough of it. It's cheaper than Guinness, too! I've been scouring Montreal looking for any, but have yet to find any. If any Montrealers on this know a place that sells it, please...

    Cold break...

Hi everyone, I'm just looking for a bit of advice. I brewed an all grain pale ale yesterday and after I passed it through my hopback and chiller, I noticed there seemed to be a LOT of cold break stuff in the beer. It has now settled to the 15L mark on my fermenter (there is approximately 21.5L...

How long does it take you to AG?

My last batch clocked in at just under 5 hours including clean up time... I was pretty pleased!

    First beer to be kegged!

As a sidebar, the glass is from McAuslan microbrewery, which makes McAuslan Oatmeal Stout which seems to be pretty well regarded on most beer rating sites...

    First beer to be kegged!

And it looks great! This is a great site. Just wanted to share this picture... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v626/KatoKiyomasa/IMG_2003.jpg Edit: Damn, can't get the image code to work...

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

Edwort, Please explain what you mean by "crash cool". The beer looks great! I'm making my own version of it this weekend, with a few changes... Thanks!

    How much have you spent?

Luckily, I've pilfered most of my AG equipment from my brother, who can't brew at this time. Thus: - 1 5 gallon carboy - buckets and odds and ends - Papazian-esque 2 bucket lautertun/hopback - Counter-flow wort chiller (which works amazingly well) - 46L mashtun/kettle => Free! As for...

    Just kegged my first brew!

Hahah! My girlfriend is definitely worried about that... So am I, to be fair.

    Just kegged my first brew!

Tell me about it. I can't wait to pull that first pint! Also, I like the fact that sinking all this money into this setup FORCES me to brew, in order to justify it! Perfect!

    Cities ranked by drunkest!

I lived in Galway, Ireland last summer... I think it should top the list. Drinking in Ireland is nuts... Needless to say, I loved it!

    Just kegged my first brew!

Just wanted to say how helpful this section was in my decision to purchase kegging equipment and with all the how-to's! It was so easy and so much less messy than bottling! I recommend taking the plunge for anyone on the fence about this! Thanks guys! Thomas
