when bottling.. use the hot glue gun.. love the hot glue gun..

I have been using multiple caps on multiple bottle types. the problem is that red capping thing does not seal tightly enough. With hoegaarden where it has a ridge deep down i can clamp nice and hard to get the seal but with others I get some carb. Just not enough where when you open the bottle...

    very little carbonation

Did you make sure when you cap the bottles it is fully sealed? Try using a hot glue gun to seal the cap on all sides to the bottle to air tighten it. If you do this to 1 bottle and notice it carbs perfectly where the rest do not you may want to switch to this. Its what I do and every beer is...

when bottling.. use the hot glue gun.. love the hot glue gun..

I have noticed that after a few batches i was getting less then perfect carbonation. besides the hoegaarden bottles I never could get a perfect seal so headed out to the home hardware shop and picked up a high heat hot glue gun with a refill pack of 24 sticks. During my last bottling...

Where to get ingrediants in Ontario Canada

I live in Ottawa right down town and there are 4 places local. My fav is the wine house right beside the mcdonalds on bank street right past south keys mall. It looks like a vintage house. But as I said there are about 4 huge ones 20 min from eachother you can pick from.

    Cream ale

Sorry and yes I meant malt :/ I tried dry hopping it but I found it was not giving me the results I wanted.. So I instead mashed the crap out of the little seeds and boiled em in a dryhop sock until I got a nice thick fluid. Oh man the results are great... But then again i am kind of a...

    I'm Not Getting Enough Head!!!!!

Crystal malts Crystal malts are different from the other types of malts. They undergo a process that changes the starches in the grain to sugars and become caramelized. They can give a sweet somewhat caramel taste to the brew. They add to the body and head retention of beers. Crystal malts range...

    Crystal hop crazy!

Ever since I made my first crystal hop hack i have been hooked to the thick head that comes with the addition. Now every beer I make has a nice boil of crystal hops added in and each one has a very tasty thick head like guiness. I think this may become my trademark ;) thick head...

    Cream ale

Add in a nice helping of crystal hops for a nice thick head on your cream ale.. mmmm What I do is crush up the crystal hops and boil them in water for 40 min ( not your wort boil ). Let it cool in a clean 2L bottle ( after sitting for 20 min to cool a little ) Then add this into your wort when...

Well it has been 24 hours and nothing is formin on top of the beer since it has been moved :P phew! I will take another pix when I get home to show you guys. I think I was just over reacting to the sludge the hops made on the beer. When I went to wash the carboy the sludge basically was...

green furry on my beer stage 2 ? :/

oooh i hope so... If this is the case in 2 weeks I should still have clear clean beer then I can bottle it without any worries :) Edit* yes they were the ones that come freeze dried in a package and they look like little pills that disolve into green pools when dropped into the beer.

green furry on my beer stage 2 ? :/

I am kind of a non quitter. I took a fine coffee filter. Stuck it at the end of my auto syphon and spent 35 min sucking out 80% of this stuff into another clean carboy. I see no traces of the crap yet and after adding more dextros the burning flavour went away. I will let it sit 2 weeks in...
