Putting fermenter on a stir plate?

Sorry for the repost. Was trying to edit

Putting fermenter on a stir plate?

@chris000, if there is indeed “a ton of papers”, could you please share some of these sources? I am very curious about this subject. Regarding your statement that I did no research, I believe I stated that I performed what I felt was an exhaustive search on HBT for anyone posting on the...

Putting fermenter on a stir plate?

Thanks, @Nagorg. My suspicion that nearly no one does this, but there’s no compelling reason not to is seeming to be be confirmed. I have no problem breaking away from tradition and testing ideas that aren’t typically practiced on the home brew scale. I have a feeling it’s a question many...

Putting fermenter on a stir plate?

First off, I really appreciate the input and discussion- lots to chew on. Not sure I’m totally on board with the Brewlosophy hate though, but whatever to each their own. Perhaps my question was too narrow or not well explained, but I simply just wanted to know if there were any positives or...

Putting fermenter on a stir plate?

@triethylborane, Wow, okay. Didn’t realize we were already in the “pissy flame war” portion of our program. My question was simple. Does anyone know if there’s a positive or negative effect to constantly stirring the fermenting wort? I didn’t feel that questioning my motives or getting into...

Putting fermenter on a stir plate?

Thanks, SanPancho. That’s actually interesting and useful information.

Putting fermenter on a stir plate?

Radwizard, unless one is doing open fermentation the amount of oxygen the yeast is exposed to is the same if it’s being stirred or not (because it’s a closed system). I believe there are more benefits to the stirring than just oxygen absorption like keeping the yeast active. I don’t think you...

Putting fermenter on a stir plate?

Nagorg, I agree- definitely not required. I see it like this: it’s great for yeast starters, why don’t we do it for fermenting our final product?

Putting fermenter on a stir plate?

I’ve done a fair amount of looking around for anyone who has posted on this topic and either I am the only one asking or I am not searching for the right thing or the answer is so intrinsically obvious that I am the only one missing the boat here. In any case, here’s my idea/question. What...

    Dual fuel kettle?

I purchased one of the adjustable thermometers. With it installed into the half size port and angled forward it’s perfectly visible from the front of the kettle. The position of the half size port being 6.25” from center is just about right at 45 degrees from the center line. Being at that...

    Dual fuel kettle?

Unfortunately, I’m still building my rig and I’m still missing some essential parts, so- no she’s still a virgin kettle. Here’s my build diagram though.

    Dual fuel kettle?

mnielson, I just recently custom built a 15 gallon Spike kettle for that exact same purpose. On the front I have two ball valve ports, one for draining and one for whirlpooling, I had the temperature sensor port installed about 6” off center from the front so I could dual purpose it for either a...

    Water Filtration Question and Advice

Thanks 2trout, that’s actually what I was planning to do, but I was going to take it one step further and send in a sample of my filtered water as well as the unfiltered just to see what’s going on under all circumstances.

    Water Filtration Question and Advice

centralpabrewer, appreciate the advice. That’s what I was hoping would work, but wasn’t sure. Can you tell me approximately how long the filter takes to dry before it can be stored?
