    SsBrewtech Sspunding Valve Adjustable PRV

I still don't get the point of this. The PVR that comes with the unitank IS adjustable. You just unscrew the top as needed based on the PSI in the tank and the PSI you want. I am really confused about this new item.

    Carbing in a unitank

I also close the blow off tube around day 3-4 and let it naturally carb after that. Usually get to 10-15 psi. I will then cold crash and use the carb stone to carb the difference if needed. Has worked out great so far.

NE IPA beginner recipe, help needed

Grains look good. Really any combo of what you listed would work out just fine.

NE IPA beginner recipe, help needed

If my conversions are right you are to low on the hops, especially in the whirlpool. I use the following rates for 5 gallons. .5 oz boil @ 10 mins 6 oz whirlpool 30 mins 8 oz dry hop. Either all at once on day 2, or split 4 and 4 day 2 and 4.

Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

So I just want to make sure anyone considering a unitank knows it really does not work well for 1/2 batches if you want to cold crash. Now that warmer air and humidity has arrived I can't get below 45 on a 1/2 batch. Temp in the room is around 72-73. Last time I cleaned it out I saw that only...

    Homebrew Canners - Can Seamers

can't wait to hear how this works out! Opens up lots of fun possibilities, now you need to start doing artwork for your cans, lol.

Is SS Brewtech introducing an eBIAB system?

While it "looks" nice and shiny and its a very snazzy control panel, this is looking like a big disappontment, especially after they have been hyping this as a truly revolutionary, market changing setup. As someone who owns a lot of $$$ SSBT stuff and is in the market for an electric system, I...

    Homebrew Canners - Can Seamers

This is on my radar but probably a little bit down the road. How do you keep the foam low enough to can? Would there be an oxidation issue with NE IPAs? Maybe next year that will be my upgrade :)

Anyone going to the 2018 Homebrew Con in Portland Oregon?

I am glad it will be east coast this year as RI is only a couple hour drive for me, so I hope to go to my first HBC, but....Providence? Not exactly a good beer scene there. Only one brewery I even know about in RI (Tilted Barn) and that probably a half hour from there and very small. Boston...

Is SS Brewtech introducing an eBIAB system?

I was wondering the same thing, shouldn't you just be heating a single vessel in a 2 vessel setup?

    Tilt Bluetooth Hydrometer Detailed Review

Anyone else have issue with the tilt when they add dry hops? Mine works great until dry hops are added then its all over the place pretty much the rest of the time.

Carbing during fermentation and cold crash

So I have a question. I usually start my carbing naturally in my unitank. Generally I will close the blow off valve around day 3-4. I am surprised that even with only .010 points or so left how much pressure builds up. Pressure has gotten as high as 17-18 psi. My question is what to do when I...

    Keeping an NEIPA an NEIPA

Is this a 10 gallon batch? If so your dry hop amount is way low. Even if its a 5 gallon batch its a bit low. I usually do 8-12 oz dry hop on a 5 gallon batch. Never have an issue with it not being hazy. Also 6 oz of whirlpool hops per 5 gallon. The clearest beer I ever did was same grain bill...

    "you won't save money homebrewing"

Since I own a lot of shiny stuff, unitank, glycol chiller etc. Its going to be quite sometime before I am saving money brewing lol.

    5x Dry Hops by Accident

It will be fine. I am usually adding like 10-12 oz dry hop for 5 gallons all the time. No worries once it drops.

Any reason I can't add fruit puree after carbing and crashing?

Hmm hadn't really thought about the fermenting part. I guess I planned to keep it cold. So I might not get what I was hoping for. In this case I guess adding it to the keg would work just as well, but not sure how that would effect the overall taste.

Any reason I can't add fruit puree after carbing and crashing?

I am thinking of making a 10 gallon batch vs my usual 5 gallons and add fruit puree to half of it. I have a unitank and typically I add dry hops, cold crash, drop trub then carb via the carb stone before transferring to keg. Any reason I can't follow that process for the first 5 gallons then add...

Got ward test back imbalance? And any good for hoppy beers

Thanks for the info on the sulfur. I will note it is actually 12. The only thing the imbalance is doing is keeping me from using bru n water. I seem to be able to use ez water and brewers friend though. I used this water for the first time for the beer I brewed over the weekend, a NE IPA...

Got ward test back imbalance? And any good for hoppy beers

So I am new to trying to deal with water issues. I have typically been using RO water and just adding a little gypsum and calcium chloride. My beers have been a bit flat and as I looked to lower ph I also decided to test my well water. Here is the report pH 6.6 Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) Est...

    Water hardness an issue?

Are you saying it’s a bad report? I got it from ward labs and it is their brewers report.
