    Soapy flavor

    I just had this happen to me. My beer tasted fine when I bottled it, but 2 weeks later it tastes like soap. I left it in the primary for probably 10 days after fermentation appeared to have finished, so maybe that did it? But I would have expected the soap taste to be there on bottling day.

    Yeah, I've got a Trans Express account I'm gonna use to get stuff shipped. It sucks though, because $35 in ingredients costs another $40 in ransom to pick it up here in San Pedro. And that's after waiting 3-4 weeks. If I ever find a source, I'll let you know.

    Where are you getting your ingredients? I live in San Pedro and haven't found anything. I figure I could use oatmeal or cornstarch as the fermentable, but there's still the problem of no hops.

    I thought about reusing soda bottles. But I think the plastic might give the beer a bad taste.

    yeah, that's why I was thinking PVC. I'm thinking of getting a piece with an inner diameter just big enough to slide over the bottle neck. I think I could set a cap on the bottle and tap the pvc down over it with a mallet. It should crimp the cap. And then finishing off the crimp with the...

    Capping without a capper

    Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone has made their own capper? I'm in Honduras and have no way to get my hands on one anytime soon. I'm thinking of using a rubber mallet and proper size pvc to set my caps. Has anyone come up with any solutions to not having a capper?
