Kettle draining problem & grounding for element

i just ordered a 1/2" dip tue from bargain fittings. seemed like the cheapest solution since i don't have to do anything but bend it when it comes :). although it'll look funny surrounded by all that stainless steel!

Kettle draining problem & grounding for element

So I finally got myself a new drill and finished boring the hole for my electric heater element and everything is water tight without needing any jb weld etc, which is pretty awesome. BUT! I have two (hopefully simple) questions: 1) There's about 1.25 gallons of "dead space" in the kettle...

    Old Monster from BCS

i'll second that lack of o2 thing. just finished up an IIPA -- 1.093 to 1.020 in about 5 days of active fermentation, and about 3 days of a very minor layer of bubbles on top. i pitched the wort onto a yeast cake (wyeast 1056) that was left over from making a normal IPA (1.053 OG) which...

    immersion heating question...

a lot of people made this: http://www.cedarcreeknetworks.com/heatstick.htm i have the element permanently installed in a pot. i use it along with my stove to achieve boil since my gas stove, even with two burners can't boil 7 gallons by itself.

i actually love willamettes. i made a nice ipa with mostly willamettes. not super hoppy, but a decently drinkable beer.

Where to find 5 and 10 gallon coolers!

the home depot website (and the lowes website) is probably the worst piece of crap ever. you actually can't find about 90% of the stuff they have in the stores on it.

While we're on the subject of couplers

totally true. luckily i needed a few unions, nipples and locknuts. i hit $99 something with what i needed so i found the cheapest part i could to throw in there to get over $100 and not pay any minimums. it's already shipped with a ups tracking number too.

How to make a Brew Pot

i don't really have any space (even outside space) with which to make any messes :). so the "use water to cool" advice didn't work (i've got no way to run water over it nor collect it after) and I had to move a bunch of **** around so i could move the rug on the floor so i wouldn't ruin that...
