Thank you sir. That is exactly what happened, I crammed the 1.5" sight glass full of hops and they did indeed compress up into the manifold. I also missed the part where you let the hops sit for a day prior to dropping them. Knowledge for next time, thanks for the info.

I didn't. I think next time I'll grind the hops up and then add to the sight glass.

yup, definitely banged on it. I have the spike cf5, so I only have access to a 1.5" port on the lid.

Thanks. Do most people use Silicone tubing for cold side transfers? I thought silicone is highly permeable to oxygen. I usually only use silicone for hot side and blow-off tube.

Here's a ridiculous question. I'm getting ready to rack to a keg. How do you transfer the wort out of the racking port? I have a 1.5" flare to connect to the port but what size tubing do I need to fit over this beefy thing?

Can you use the carb stone with the BME? Would the max pressure of 1-1.5 psi release the CO2 you're pumping into it?

Cool. For 6 gallons, you had no problems with the grains not being fully submerged? If so, this sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. I want 6 gallons in the fermenter to account for .5 Gallon trub loss, dead space, etc.
