    Boiling the mash

Then best get to testing it out for yourself. Let me know what starchy, yeasty water tastes like, as I'm actually interested in that, being a guy who will try anything once. But not interested enough to actually put all this work into it.

    Boiling the mash

I think the highlighted, bolded, and underlined portion is the kicker here. No matter how many times people on this thread have tried to explain it to you, you still don't seem to quite understand how a decoction mash works. Go ahead and look it up, even google it if you need to, and then come...

I don't believe this grain bill - brewdog elvis juice

As an off topic, if anybody's into lots of late hops, and also into witbiers, one of the best ones I made went with this method of sweet orange peel - 50g @ 5mins, 50g in the semi-tincture (which is put in with the dry hops). First bitter addition to 9.3 IBUs. Then 45g Bramling Cross @ 5 mins -...

I don't believe this grain bill - brewdog elvis juice

I've done 50g each/20L batch (which has the goal of 19L in the keg) with 5 mins left in the boil, and then again in the fermenter. So that's 100g total in 20L - or 5g/l - or 2.5g/l per addition. The one that goes in the fermenter sits in a bit of alcohol with as little flavor as possible, and...

    condensate stack ideas needed

Good idea, just don't necessarily have the money to buy all that extra stuff. Also, they don't really sell bags of ice here (though the tap water in the winter is like 4-5C).

    condensate stack ideas needed

Now that I looked at most of those pictures again, I see what you're saying. The smaller versions are hooked up to a vent still, which is not what I'm looking to do. Not wanting to make any big purchases besides possibly some pipe and somehow getting a mettle hood over the kettle. Basically...

    condensate stack ideas needed

It would basically need to be able to be something I can just attach after I pull the bag and drain it. Something small enough to fit in the bathroom. Basically I could have a hole at the top that sprays down into a side pipe of some sort that is connected to my sink, which would be the cold...

    condensate stack ideas needed

I guess I should've explained exactly what I was thinking - a condensate stack - with some pictures and links, and maybe ideas could flow from there? http://conical-fermenter.com/Condensate-Stack.html

    condensate stack ideas needed

Ok, I suppose I see your point that it shouldn't affect the entire house, but in my experience it still just sends all the warm air out of the room and drags in cold air. This makes the entire living room incredibly cold incredibly quickly. I've tried doing it this way, the reason why I know it...

I wasn't worried about the heat it would create, but the 30f air temp infiltrating the house.

Just to clarify the brew space is in a basement, but it's our apartment. I could easily just run the vent and open a window and turn on a small fan, but our apartment's air system is connected to the main part of the house, and I don't think the landlords would appreciate us cooling the house...

    condensate stack ideas needed

I don't do too many DIY projects, mainly because I just rent things and my brew set up is fairly simple. It works beautifully in the warmer months with my 36L biab equipment. The problem is that in the cold months I've got to move inside into my tiny little apartment. The induction stove top...

    Interesting German Brewing PDF

I wasn't trying to make light of extract brewing. I'd be willing to bet that a large majority of homebrewers started with extract kits. I was simply saying that from my experience, all-grain is far superior to extract. I haven't fully experienced low-oxygen beers quite yet, but the evidence is...

    Interesting German Brewing PDF

From my experience with High Dissolved Oxygen, all-grain brews vs. extract kits, are the all-grain brews far superior to extract. I'd imagine this being in part to oxygen ingress, but most importantly to the stress that the compounds endure during the extracting process. This leads to that very...
