    spot on kwadric, checked the resistance directly at the lugs of the element and it was as expected - 23.8 ohms. noticed cable connectors were a bit rusty so reckon thats why i got a bad reading earlier. all clean now. problem solved. thanks everybody!

    brilliant, thanks wilserbrewer. hard scrubbing with a sponge did the trick but the amount of effort put into removing the residue seemed excessive. i mean a product thats suppose to remove stains is itself leaving stains.. i dunno cheers

    hi all, i'm building a simple biab setup from a used keg. cut the top off and gave it a really good clean with 'bar keepers friend' then soaked it overnight in 'oxi' then another round of 'bar keepers friend'. rinsed it all well.. while it was drying i swiped the inside of the keg with a paper...
