hi all,
i'm building a simple biab setup from a used keg. cut the top off and gave it a really good clean with 'bar keepers friend' then soaked it overnight in 'oxi' then another round of 'bar keepers friend'. rinsed it all well..
while it was drying i swiped the inside of the keg with a paper towel and it was a mess!! what is it? is this normal?
cheers

BKF needs to be rinsed and scrubbed off...black residue?
Yes, that is the SS residual from the BKF polish. Wash it off.

Wash it manually, the old fashioned way to rid BKF residue.

You need to wash and rinse better, not just soak...like elbow grease with detergent.

Yes normal when using BKF.

brilliant, thanks wilserbrewer. hard scrubbing with a sponge did the trick but the amount of effort put into removing the residue seemed excessive. i mean a product thats suppose to remove stains is itself leaving stains.. i dunno
cheers
