Anyone taste their beer before bottling?

Just like most here...I taste the brew at every step.

About to brew 1st batch Hop question

    puzzling disaster with new recipe

Technically, to be "Bud Like" you used Way too much hops. The proper amount is, take one pellet and wave it over the pot for 5 seconds during the boil. Then throw it away.....:D

    Fruit the beer

Yes you will. No problem. I made a cranberry wheat for last Christmas...1 week in primary. 2 weeks in secondary with the berries. 2 weeks in tertiary after racking off of cranberries. Got plenty of carbonation with the usual dose of corn sugar at bottling time.

Priming with LME or Corn Sugar ...

I think bird may be on to something. LME/DME takes a lot more time to carbonate than does corn sugar. You may be drinking them / putting them in fridge before they have time to fully carb. Which is probably a good thing since I think if you didn't, you would have bombs with that much extract.

    grain bag burned to pot!

My brew pot has handles and I just tie the top of the grain bag to one of them. Keeps it suspended where it can't touch the bottom and burn. ;)

    Who's brewing today?

Brewed a Hefe last Saturday. Was going to move it to secondary today but it's still bubbling! Any way. Today I'm brewing a cranberry wheat. Normal brew, the fun will come in about a week when it's time to chop up the 4 lbs of cranberrys and stuff them into a carboy. :D

    Just realized a possible error

Nah...Shouldn't be. I have never sanitized the packet and have forgotten to sanitize the scissors every time but once. Haven't had a problem yet.

    Priming question

I dump the priming sugar into the bottling bucket, then siphon the beer in on top of it. The whirlpool action that creates mixes it enough that I don't need to stir it.

    Bummer and a big decision...

No. There was a poll on some TV station the other day asking if your pet was very ill, how much you'd spend to try to save it. SWMBO looks at me and says, "If it were Milo, (her dog) I guess I'd spend about $3,000 to $4,000 if they'd let me finance it. What about you??" I said, "New cat...
