    Adding Cranberry to Wheat Ale

I do this every year for Christmas. I mash them up a little and put them in a bucket and rack the beer on top of them after the primary fermentation is done. I leave them that way for 2 full weeks. Then I move the beer to a tertiary (sp?) for 1 week to clear a bit. Attached is a picture of...

    Hop Bags

Heh. I didn't even know they made reusable hop bags. I've always just used the cheap ones that you throw away. I guess they're cheesecloth. Although I did run out once and used a pair of my wife's knee high hose.

    Blueberry Wheat Help

I have always used another 6 gallon (or 7.5 gallon) whichever size I have. Can't remember. But someone mentioned using a bucket and wow, that sounds way easier. Might try that next time.

I do it every time I use real fruit. Just because there is so much in the secondary and this help clear it up.

    Dont salt the beer!

When I go to Mexico to visit family (SWMBO's family) they always have Tecate and we always squeeze lime in it and a dash of salt. It's actually pretty good that way, but don't bring a salt shaker near me when I'm drinking anything else.

    The great starter debate

Yep, it's been working great! I've made about 15 batches like that. I've also made about 10 or 15 batches with White Labs liquid yeast with no starter and that has worked great so far also. Cooking a batch today actually. Franziskaner Hefe Weissen.

    The great starter debate

I didn't know whether to call this a mini starter or just hydrating...

    The great starter debate

I guess I technically just hydrate them. I add the packet to some water with a little sugar in it and let it sit for a few hours until it gets some foam on top.

    The great starter debate

lol. Never said I was normal...just in both camps. :D
  17. timdsmith72

    The great starter debate

I'm in both camps! I make a starter when I use dry yeast...no starter when I use liquid yeast. :-)
