    Dried out buds!

No, not really. All I've been doing is putting grass clippings down each week and watering daily. I think I may have put down some composted manure down early this spring as well.

    Dried out buds!

Hmm, I'm pretty sure I would have noticed if they were separate vines of some sort. I've been meticulously pruning. You know how crazy they shoot up new bines. I've been making sure there are only 4 running this entire line. And each of the Willamette lines that I have look just like this...

    Dried out buds!

Hey all, I'm a hopefull first time grower/harvester this year. I have 2 second year plants; a Hallertauer and Willamette. So far the Hallertauer is doing really well and I have some decent cones forming. My Willamette however, has suffered a set back. It started out really strong and...

Is this a sign of contamination?

    Which yeast is that?

    force carbonating the new tap-a-draft

If you are using 16 gram cartridges then something is wrong. 1. When you screw in the cart, do you hear CO2 entering into the bottle? You should. You shouldn't hear it being released from the tap release valve. I generally have a bit of head space in my bottles and can see/hear the gas...

    Fremont Summer Ale

I and a couple others actually made an attempt at this one last year and the thread is here: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f37/sharing-my-simple-summer-pale-ale-recipe-253745/index3.html Matt Lincecum actually chimed in on this thread which was awesome of him. Hope this helps!

    force carbonating the new tap-a-draft

I've successfully force carbed 2 TAD bottles using the 16 gram cartridges. After bottling I put the bottle in the fridge for a couple days, then added the tap and a cartridge. I thought the beer was drinkable and some carbonation was noticeable after a few days. It takes about a couple of...

Anyone ever used WLP080 Cream Ale for Blonde Ale?

I used WLP080 for a dry stout recently because that was all I had in my fridge. It ended up so clean (like that yeast does) and smooth. It's probably about the most quaffable stout ever. I'm not so sure I'd use it again in a stout just because it doesn't really match the style, but I'm...

What beer must I try on my trip to Seattle this weekend?

+1 for Fremont Brewing and Pike Brewing. Hales brewpub is also located next to Fremont in Ballard. Also keep an eye out for Schooner Exact beers in the pubs around here. All very good beers.

    Mold in my beer?

German lager with San Fran yeast?

I recently tried using WLP080 for a Dortmunder ale and it turned out very nice. Very clean, attenuates well, and flocs like a champ.

Is there a good alternative to WLP080

I really like this yeast as well. I started my fermentation at 60 which was probably a bit cold as they worked fairly slowly. Had a full krausen for about 12 days. I then let it work its way up to 65ish and it finished right up and dropped out really well. Finished beer was very clean...

    Base malts

I second the Ray Daniels book. I bought it on a whim at a used book store for $7.00 and refer to it for just about every brew I make. Great book.

    Wlp080

I've used it for a bastardized Dortmunder. The beer is damn good and the yeast finished very clean, but I don't think I'd be fooling anybody if I tried to pass it as a lager.

    Brewing Classic Styles Recipes

My first thought would be "Don't trust anyone on the Interweb." Look up Brewers Publications and make sure they have someone named Kristi in the company. Get her email address and phone number from the company, and verify that she sent the message. Paranoid? Maybe. But you wouldn't be the...

    WLP380 Accentuate Clove/Spicy Phenol

So how were your results? I'm looking to use WLP380 in an upcoming brew and am interested in hearing what the 62-64 temp got you. Thanks!

    Saison BBD Saison Furtif

I know others have already said it, but this beer ages so damn well. I brewed this back in July and drank one of my few remaining bottles last night and was just floored by how good it was. It was delicious to begin with, now its straight-up phenomenal. Has anyone tried an all-grain version?

Can you Brew It recipe for Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale Ale

It was a fantastic beer. I don't have the most refined palate and am fairly new to all this so I can't say that I'd definitely be able to discern a 100% MO beer from a 50/50, but I was extremely pleased with the results of this brew.

Can you Brew It recipe for Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale Ale

I used the 50/50 based on Jamil's initial comments on the taste test of the first clone attempt. I didn't do a side by side comparison to Mirror Pond with mine because I was more concerned with just making a good pale ale, but the next time that I brew this I think I'll try with all MO.
