    HLT element ULWD or not?

So, I found a 5500 watt strait folded element from camco. It appears to have a slightly higher watt density than the wavy one Kal uses just because it is straight, but it is cheaper by 30%. Is there any advantage to having a lower watt density on the HLT? I plan to use the wavy one on the...

Ultra low watt density heater for RIMS system

So I ended up getting a 5500 watt folded element. It is straight and was the largest in size HD had. I will post pics as I go. Thanks everyone. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Ultra low watt density heater for RIMS system

I plan on using an arduino with multiple RTD temperature sensors and then driving this element with a digital dimmer circuit, so the wattage used will change based on a desired change in temperature. In reality, the voltage will be probably low generally because I will start with water that...

Do you know if they have the same watt density? That is what I am looking for. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Ultra low watt density heater for RIMS system

Does anyone have a recommendation for an Ultra low watt density heater for RIMS system that is strait (not wavy like Kal's e-brewery)? I would like the same or less watt density as Kal and strait to fit better in a tube. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Herms coil size for keggle?

To help with the the suggestions: My goal is to make 10 gallon batches. I did not plan to insulate the mash keggle. Based on responses, I am leaning towards the 1/2 tube. Just have to select length. Shorter is cheaper. Thanks.

    Herms coil size for keggle?

All, I plan to buy from Zach, so that is not what I am really worried about. What I was concerned about is that Kal uses 1/2x50 on his 20 gallon kettles. I am using 15 gallon keggles. I was wondering about if I should use a different tube length and tube diameter, or stick to what Kal...

    Herms coil size for keggle?

I plan on e-brewing and want to use a herms coil. If I am using keggles, what size tube and length should I use for the herms coil? I know Kal uses 1/2x50' coils in his. On a smaller 15 gallon kettle size, would the coil change (besides diameter of coil)? I am considering: 3/8x50' 3/8x25'...

    Weld or weld-less?

I am building up some keggle a for an electric brewing setup. I have a friend who is a certified welder with a tig machine. I am contemplating welding bungs on to the kegs for all fittings including the heating elements. Any recommendations? Also, I am looking at using camco 02963...

    Roxton Garage/Brewery build

Love this build! Do you think you could every once and a while post a panoramic picture or one at a distance so we can see the whole thing? I know I keep having to look back to remember all that you have done. Plus, I bet the entire thing as a whole is worth showing as it evolves. Thanks...

    Electric keggle questions

What is a typical brew batch size for a keggle setup? I have heard 10 gallons and I have heard 7 gallons. I think my target would be 10 gallons finished beer. Thanks

    Electric keggle questions

He suggested an induction type setup. That just sounded like too much work for me.

    Electric keggle questions

So, I am looking into doing all grain electric brewing, but a friend warned me against putting the heating elements in inside the keggle because they can burn materials at the surface of the element and introduce off flavors. Is this true?

    Cleaning after 12 years

The kegs had beer in them, they were consumed but never cleaned. There was whatever the co2 could not push out, so there was some liquid. They have been sealed since then. The carboy was probably rinsed, but I don't remember. I was very busy at the time. I will post a pic of the carboy...

    Cleaning after 12 years

So, I have a 15 gallon glass carboy, a 5 gallon carboy, and 4 corny kegs that have not been cleaned since last used 12 years ago. How would you recommend cleaning them and preparing them for use again? Thanks

    Homemadesoda syrups?

Anyone know how the big guys do it? I assume they just use extracts and don't add as much water.
