Mangrove Jack's US West Coast Ale yeast M44 experience?

Made a hoppy apa and in a week it dropped down to 1.006, 88%AA! YIKES! And this happened in 15-14°C ambient temperature.

Mangrove Jack's US West Coast Ale yeast M44 experience?

Had beautiful dense cake on the bottom of fermenter so no problems racking. Carbing up nicely, faster than S04. Also the yeast tasted good from the fermenter as it is tasting with the rye! Am trying it out the second time next monday for a fruity APA, that'll be the true test.

    Residual Sweetness...Why?

Did you overshoot your mash temp any bit? was the mash temp uniform thru the vessel? did you mash out? Also how is your water?

    How to make AMAZING IPA

My two cents would be: Ditch columbus to get rid of the dank bong water flavour. Also, citra is great, like really great; Just don't use it for bittering or anything before 20min mark, you might get cat piss/gooseberry flavours/aroma..

Smoothest bittering hops: Nugget, Columbus or Chinook?

I'd go for nugget.. or chinook. But that's just me. I hate the columbus dank personally; this small scale brewer in Finland produces many fantastic beers, almost all with columbus.. So far i've truly enjoyed only 2 out of many. Oh well.. Go for nugget, chinook might take over completely.

    Us-05 off taste?

I have experienced just the same flavour you're getting. Bottled my first batch fermented with S04 yesterday and it tastes incredible compared to us-05.. like it's been aging for a month already.

    Red IPA critique

They're not the same, altho good substitutes for each other. EDIT: forgot to quote. I mean CaraRed and Crystal 20.

My IIPA Smells Like Cat Piss...

It's actually 'Oven porridge amber', in finnish ofc. Altho i have to admit i wrote 'Cat Piss' above my notes after first impression.. However, it came out as my best brew so far. EDIT: oh, the name comes from the fact i mashed it in the oven while i was concentrating on my bigger brew..

    Red IPA critique

Could also try adding CaraRed from Weyermann, altho you might need to add quite a bit and can't tell if you want it sweet or not..

Mangrove Jack's US West Coast Ale yeast M44 experience?

I've got this pale american rye fermenting with M44 right now. I pitched it into a half quart yeast bottle with about 6oz of boiled tap water and 2oz of boiled wort collected before first hop addition. Temperature of liquid was 75F. Pitched this liquid into fermenter after about 30 minutes which...

    Antique Cork-Lined Bottle Caps

How did it work out? any off flavours? just got about 200 of these and thinking about using them for capping my winter warmer..

My IIPA Smells Like Cat Piss...

Oh yeah, this.. It's so good. The cat piss is almost (but not completely) gone and it's just a stone fruit bliss. Will brew again, with a little more emphasis on LATE additions.. ;) btw the first citra drop was @ 20min left on boil.

My IIPA Smells Like Cat Piss...

It actually took off as an amber, with vienna/pale base with some crystal/munich/melanoid. Bittered for 40+ IBU with galena, then added citra, some more citra and also glacier. Blew a fuse mid boil so my late additions were kinda mixed up, but was able to push it thru. Fertmented with BRY-97 @...

My IIPA Smells Like Cat Piss...

Did the bottling yesterday night and i'll have to say: wow. Cat piss is still there after dry hopping for a week in secondary with citra and galena, but oh the fruit! This one is going to be delicious. So heads up, accidental cat piss brewers, go ahead and dry hop it! EDIT: 1oz in 2.5gal

My IIPA Smells Like Cat Piss...

Another incident here. Made some cat piss amber accidentally... It's not horrible, it's just really weird. Smells like cat piss, tastes like, if cat piss would taste nice. I think i dropped citra @ 40min for the first time, have to check my logs. I'm now dry hopping with some more citra and also...

    Another am I stuck?

You seem to have the same problem as i had with my first. I recommend checking refractometer calculator from Brewer's Friend. I thought my brew was stuck too, but i didn't know that alcohol would put refraction so much off.. You could have FG as low as 1.011!
