    I agree with lemon. Just buy distilled water for like six bucks and save yourself the worry. Good luck on ur first brew. Remember to sanitize everything!

    Infections

    Dont dump it. Let ur tastbuds judge it. I just bottled a high gravity holiday ale that had a layer of what Looked liked skummy yeast with bubles even on top. I sampled after racking off into bottling bucket and its the best damn beer I have made so far. Never dump it without tasting it first...

    Does loss of foam due to blow off equal loss of beer?

    I always add an extra half gallon of water to the fermenter before pitching my yeast. At least if I do have blowoff it will get the extra and not the original 5 gallons I am expecting.

The fermenter is going crazy now. I had to replace the airlock with a blow off hose to keep it under control...
