    My new pot :(

I decided it wasn't worth my time to make an exchange for another pot, i can't handle dealing with people half way accross the states just for an item. However, i did get them to settle for a 25% refund on my purcahse, which i think is fair. Thanks for the suggestions!

    My new pot :(

They will cover the shipping costs both ways, and i wouldn't mind them as long as i know its not going to hurt anything. Anyone have any ideas?

    My new pot :(

I purchased a Bayou 82 qt pot the other week and it came via ups just a few hours ago. It's a beautiful pot I have some plans for, but first i have to decide to keep it :( It came with some decent-sized scratches on the inside of the pot, perfectly perpendicular to each-other. They span about...

    Why BIAB?

I was just reading somewhere that this person chooses to BIAB because he/she thought there would be less clean-up, which makes sense.

Going to California on a Big Jet Plane...

Understood, I love Ninkasi's brew and find some in CA as-well. Just read what he's asking for (again)...

Going to California on a Big Jet Plane...

I would definitely suggest buying firestone BEER, but the BREWERY is quite a ways from LA/San Diego... Ninkasi Brewery...isn't even in california... Also, I believe Moylands is bay area/ish, quite a long ways away.

Going to California on a Big Jet Plane...

Green Flash Brewing Stone Brewing co. (Escondido) Steelhead Brewing (Irvine) Pizza Port (Carlsbad) These are some of my favorites from down south. You should make some time to come up north, there's some fantastic breweries up here!

    So here's where I am...

I just "finished" a AG Hoppy Red Ale :rockin: Tonight, I returned from my vacation and the beer was the first thing i checked. :D Measured its FG and it was spot on to what it was suppose to be (1.02). However, i decided to ferment it at a "lower" temperature than the optimal temp of for the...

    Quick Help Please

I'm completely unsure. I have read several equations which tell me I would need to add x amount of DME OR y amount of LME. Unless this is referring to "Dry" malt extract vs. "Liquid" malt extract and not "Dark" malt extract and "Light malt extract. In which case I feel stupid... HA! So...

    New Pot Upgrade

Great thanks for the input guys. I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the Bayou 82 qt stainless steel pot, i'll let you know how it works after the first brew in it! Mike A -- I realize that it might be cutting it close, so i might just shoot for a 12.5 gallon batch the first time around...

    Quick Help Please

I got it taken care of, thank you! The problem was i missed my pre-boil gravity after my mash and was afraid i wouldn't make it to my intended OG by the time i finished my boil. I ended up adding .825lbs of dark malt extract in the last 20 min of the boil which raised my gravity from about 63...

    Quick Help Please

Hey guys, I missed my pre-boil gravity (wanted 1.06, and have 1.05), I only have dark dry malt extract that I can use to adjust the gravity of my now boiling wort. What's the process of adjusting the gravity when using dark malt extract (dry)? Does anyone have the equation handy? Any help is...

    New Pot Upgrade

I have been using a 7.5 stainless steel pot for a couple years now to brew 5 gallon batches. However, since then I've got myself into all-grain brewing, and I'm having a blast. Actually, I've been enjoying it so much I decided to buy a new gas burner and a new pot to brew 10/15 gallon batches...

IPA fermentation start -- temp problems

I am getting a bit concerned with my beer at this point. I have hardly any krausen at all, and i have been keeping it steady/cool since both packs have been pitched. I would have expected a beer with a OG of 1.08 to be exploding...

IPA fermentation start -- temp problems

Up-date. After reviewing the comments and the trusty calculator, i went and purchased another Wyeast 1056 this morning, and finally got it into my beer this evening. It seems to be doing great! How much yeast would you guys normally use with a high gravity IPA?
