    Bottling Day!

congrats man! May your first beer be a good one! I know that for my beers, it tends to take about 4.5-6 weeks in the bottles before they really taste good, so don't get discouraged if you're 3 weeks in the bottles and the beer isn't fantastic.

    How much is too much.

I try to keep myself from beer during the work week (sun night through thurs night), but I don't always adhere to that. One problem I have is that alcohol will have a seriously negative impact on the benefits of your workout if you have it in your system. I can't have a beer for dessert then...

    Down 10lbs in 10 days

Man, thats pretty dang quick, make sure that you're still eating eough calories, usually when you lose 1lb/day, you're losing muscle mass as well as fat. Don't starve yourself, the body will consume your muscle first... Good to go though man! Not trying to rain on your parade, just want you...

    apfelwein fermentation temp??

The sulfer smell isn't too bad. I've got it sitting off of my diningroom right now. The smell lasted for 2-3 days, starting about 2 days into it, but was never very bad. Get to bottle it in a few weeks :)

    pellet Hops, or leaf?

For my operation, pellet hops work so much better than leaf. I use a spigot on my brew kettle after cooling to drain into the fermenter. I drain through a strainer and the pellet hops go through the spigot very easily and get caught in the strainer. The Leaf hops clog up my spigot unless I put...

What happens when a beginner doesn't top off.

It probably would have been one of the best stouts you'd ever had, just with that little extra something that you could never replicate again. Meh, I agree, I spent all the time brewing it, I'm going to see it through to the end unless it has legs and hair. I'll just tell myself that the...

    this guy really hates bees

I must admit, I'm of the type that would suit up and F with the bees. I'm allergic, and every time I've ever been stung, I have NOT been screwing with the bees, so if I see more bees, its payback time.

    Flasks As Groomsmens' Presents

Honestly, not knowing any gun laws, and not sure if this is even the thread for it, but is it legal to gift a gun? I'm about to be a bestman, I'll let you know what I get. I wouldn't mind a flask, but I already have one and I never have used it. I am also too much of a ***** to drink...

Morning brew session dilemma: to partake or not to partake?

I don't see the big deal with it. I've had beer as early as 9:30 in a morning, and I don't think that having a beer in the morning makes the rest of your day screwed up, it is possible to drink without getting hammered. I haven't done an early morning brew session yet, but I'd definately be...

    Keeping bottles sanitized

I'm lazy, and I'll probably be this way until I get burned by doing so. I've bottled three batches this way with no funky bottles yet. I clean the bottles after I am done drinking them, but on bottling day, I put them all in the dish washer on high-temp wash, with heated dry. bottles get...

What happens when a beginner doesn't top off.

I had the same amount (or less) for my first beer. Didn't hurt a thing.

Maybe something in the foam you actually want in the beer? Just a thought...

    Homebrewer vs. Craftbrewer

Thank you for saying this before I do. I'm proud to be a homebrewer, I know that the beer I make is good (finally!!), and I could give a flying &$#& if someone thinks I'm some hickdicky rustlin up some hooch.

    Heresy!!!!

Its still beer. Its as different from an IPA as an IPA is from a Belgian Wit. Personally I love beer, in many, many different types, and try to appreciate all that I can. Its a light lager, its not meant to have a powerful taste, its meant to be just what it is. Clean and refreshing, light...

    Heresy!!!!

To those who hate them, you have to remember that these beers usually win or rank very highly in their categories at the GABF each year, for American Lager and American Light Lager. You may not like them, but they're a very good representation of their style.

    Heresy!!!!

Something about Miller High Life in the 24oz can is yummy sometimes. So is Icehouse actually. Normally I'd prefer a hoppy IPA, but occasionally a 'Murrican Lager is good.

    Ahh... :)

Brewday went pretty good. I found some rust on the supposedly "stainless steel" washer on the inside of my MLT. I shrugged it off and brewed anyway, hope I don't get tetanus. Mash and strike temps went well, boil went well, can't really complain. I like Partial Mash, it lets me pretend like...

    Ahh... :)

Brewtopia, I'd love to! Did I read correctly that you're in an apartment now and limited in your brewing capabilities? I've got a condo and a little more room. Right now I use a 3gal MLT for partial mash's. I'd love to have a pro like you come over and show me how its done. I'm about to leave...
