Questions from a newb: Nut brown ale

Well I just finished putting the batch into a primary. I boiled the DME in 12 litres of water for 45 mins then took off heat and added the kit, stirred in and dissolved then added in cascade pellet hops and boiled for another 15 mins. It was the first time I used hops. I cooled the wort...

Questions from a newb: Nut brown ale

I'm done with kits now. These two batches will be my last.

Questions from a newb: Nut brown ale

I'm heeding everyone's advice here. Instead of combining the two kits, I'm going to make two different batches. Each batch is for 23 litres and calls for an additional 1.5 kg/each of malt extract. So I bought a package of 1.5 kg Light DME and another package of Amber DME. I also got 2 oz of...

    Carboy Dangers (and potential death)

I think I do the opposite of everyone of your points. Just getting into brewing beer and just bought a second glass carboy. I never knew there was such dangers. I have picked it up by the neck, full, shaking it. I will definitely handle with more care.

Starsan questions from first time user

I have a quick and maybe silly question. Is it 5 US gallons or Imperial gallons to one ounce. I'm assuming 5 US gallons.

Questions from a newb: Nut brown ale

Well the kits say to add sugar and I know in general that beer needs approx 6 lb total sugar. The two kits together would equal the appropriate sugar for a 5 gal batch.

Questions from a newb: Nut brown ale

I just bought two canned kits of hopped nut brown ale (liquid extract) from a new zealand company black rock. I was just going to add the two kits together and forego adding any other sugar and make a 5 gallon batch. What can I do to make it any better. When I boil the extract should I...

How much DME do I need for bottling 1 L & Grolsch

Sigh. The wort was prehopped in the kit. http://www.blackrock.co.nz/product+information.htm Export Pilsener A traditional Czech beer in the Pilsener style. Crips, clear and refreshing. Just wanted to know how much corn sugar to prime in each one litre bottle and/or Grolsch bottle.

How much DME do I need for bottling 1 L & Grolsch

I'm not going to use DME for bottling anymore. I will use it to ferment my next batch.

How much DME do I need for bottling 1 L & Grolsch

I just used a beer kit, added 1kg of corn sugar and 22litres of water and pitched in the yeast. It's my first batch so I'm just doing the basics. I will just use 1 cup of corn sugar boiled in 2 cups of water and add to batch and bottle.

How much DME do I need for bottling 1 L & Grolsch

Yeah I was wondering about that. Should I just use 3/4 cup corn sugar to bottle this batch and save the DME for my next batch and use it in the wort as a substitute for the corn sugar? PS: How much corn sugar is needed per one litre bottle?

How much DME do I need for bottling 1 L & Grolsch

I'm using a 23L glass carboy, but only filled it to about 22 litres. It's been 7 days and it looks ready to bottle. I'm going to transfer the batch directly to bottle and try not to get any yeast sediment from the bottom. I will put the DME into the bottles and transfer the beer into each...

How much DME do I need for bottling 1 L & Grolsch

I am doing my first batch from a kit (czech pil). I'm not going to pitch in the DME straight into the batch because I'm not quite sure what the final volume will be (avoiding the yeast on bottom). So I'm going to put the DME in each bottle. I have 1 litre plastic bottles and some grolsch snap...
