    Frame powder coated!!

Thanks Junkster. I doubt it will last long, brewing this weekend and from what I've read I should be exptecting the paint around the burners to fail. I'll try and rig some heat shields best as possible. As for the mash tun, thats going to be an experiment also. My mash usally seems to be a...

Culturing yeast from your favorite beer?

There are tons of answers to this. search yeast cultivating or harvesting. I just cultured yeast from a Dogfish 120 minute. Drank most the bottle and dumped the rest into a starter on stirplate and stepped it up a couple times. Worked great. I used it to bottle a 15% ABV experimental brew with.

    yeast nutrient

My LHBS sells that product. They tell me to add it to the fermenter not the boil, but I don't see it being sterilized if it isn't boiled. Maybe check the manufacturers website.

    Will I need Rice Hulls?

agreed. You only have 2 pounds of flaked grains, the rest have husks so you are fine. Wheat doesn't have husks and turns to mush hence the need for rice hulls. Good luck with the brew.

HERMs coil in kettle for chilling?

I used to cool through the HLT coil in an ice bath and it was extremely fast compared to other cooling methods, but adding 10-15$ in ice to every batch got old. I just use an immersion chiller in the BK now. Why would you want it permanent?

    Whole Hops or Pellet?

I've never whirlpooled, I only have one pump. I plan on another someday. I'll do some research on it, from what I understand the whirlpool gets everything into the center of the kettle and then your pick up tube is up against the wall of the kettle with no screen? I haven't heard the terms...

    Whole Hops or Pellet?

I built this kettle screen because I clogged my hoses with whole leaf, but I can see how if my down tube were closer to the bottom of the kettle maybe the leaf hops would make themselves into a filter, cool idea. I'm new to harvesting yeast just since I made this filter, it's pretty fine mesh...
