Autumn Seasonal Beer Thunderstruck Pumpkin Ale (AG and Extract versions)

People keep posting about not using Pumpkin. What fun is that??? :) I would just call that a spiced ale and not a pumpkin ale. Who takes the easy way out, not homebrewers!!! Besides, the holiday season is about work... :)

Autumn Seasonal Beer Thunderstruck Pumpkin Ale (AG and Extract versions)

I went by cups... One 15 oz can of Libby's is 1.75 cups of pumpkin goo. So, I pureed my baked pumpkin and am saving 7 cups for my beer making purposes. My wife was "stock piling" 2 cans of Libby's canned pumpkin, but I can brag that I used my own homegrown pumpkin. Thanks for checking back...

Autumn Seasonal Beer Thunderstruck Pumpkin Ale (AG and Extract versions)

I'm making this on Saturday. Is the 60 oz of canned pumpkin a "volume" measurement or a weight measurement? The reason I ask is I'm going to substitute my own homegrown "neck" pumpkin - commonly found in PA and used for making pies. I'm looking for the conversion so I know how much pumpkin to...

Another "Completed First All grain batch" thread!

In order to compensate for the warped wall, you will need some sort of "soft" food grade washer. I had to put 3 silicone or rubber (i forget now) on the inside of mine, with the SS washer pushing the rubber/silicone against the cooler wall. Works well for me, and I was able to get them at...

    Miller Lite Home Draft Dissected

I'll be honest, I don't know much about CO2, BUT would this be able to screw into Miller Tap-a-draft system, rather than using the 16g CO2 cartridges? http://www.walmart.com/ip/Pure-Energy-CO2-Tank-With-Repeater/5439038 The 16g CO2 cartridges are salty, at $10.00, even at Wally world!

Christmas Beer - Possibly red in color?

Thanks all... I made a Cherry Wit for a family picnic and the cherries imparted very little color, but a ton of flavor. I used Oregon brand Red Tart Cherries in Water. I used TART cherries as I didn't want my beer to taste like Sam Adaams abomination of a Cherry Wheat beer. What would give...

Christmas Beer - Possibly red in color?

I'm looking to start a Christmas beer (probably a little late) for the Holiday season. I would like to try to make something a hue of red. If anyone is familiar with Mad Elf by Troegs in Harrisburg, PA, this is a good example of what I'm looking to make...

    Other hobbies besides homebrew..

OK, really, I do computers and networks for fun, I also like Kayaking, jogging, and weight training... Don't mind mowing the lawn either. Only time I get to myself for 2 hours, no disturbances or interruptions. Well there was that one time...

    Cherry Wit/Wheat beer

Well, I was looking at Wal-Mart for frozen cherries, and couldn't find any. So, I decided to go down the "canned fruit" area and low and behold they sell canned Oregon Cherries. I bought 5 cans, which hold 11 oz. of cherries. My plan is to put these in a sanitized stainless steel container...

    Cherry Wit/Wheat beer

I'm looking for some guidance on adding real (or frozen) cherries to a batch of wheat beer I made. Very simple recipe for an upcoming picnic. I say simple because it is 55% 2-row and 45% flaked wheat. Well, I want to make this a cherry wheat. I used Fermentis WB-06 dry wheat yeast. I hit my...

    Thank you guys...

I'm drinking my first all grain right now... A total success. I started with a Mr. Beer kit making mediocre beer, and I did a few "kits" with my 5 gallon kit... Reading everything here, I made my MLT which was a blast (hunting all the parts). I made the "Pottsville" common ale recipe I found...

    Couple of mashing questions

On a 5 or 10 gallon rubbermaid/igloo/etc round cooler with the round lid on top, is that hollow? is it possible to drill a, say 1/2" hole and blast some expandafoam insulation in there to help with insulation?

American Lager Pottsville Common (Yeungling Lager Attempt)

Another update... I threw one in the fridge yesterdat, since when I opened one 4 days ago, even at only 5 days carbed, it was carbed nicely. I just drank this, and even with one day cold conditioning and 9 carbing, it is freaking awesome. When I tried it 4 days ago, I threw it in the freezer...
