Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

I swapped the hops (same IBU's) it was the bomb dot com. Until my wife's rottweiler cracked the faucet in the middle of the night and finished my keg plus emptied my CO2 tank.

Viability of Using a Dishwasher’s Sanitize Setting

I mix up one gallon batches in a pitcher and dump it in the bottom of my wife's dishwasher when I'm done with what I need to do for brewing. She loads the dish washer like she normally would. We never had any issues with foam escaping the dishwasher. I suspect it might be a problem if the...

Viability of Using a Dishwasher’s Sanitize Setting

I use Star-San in my wife's dish washer frequently. I never had a problem with any foam escaping the dish washer.

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

In the middle of the night, my wife's rottweiler cracked open the tap and finshed my keg of this Blone:( The drip tray was full but he did a great job cleaning up the floor. Poor guy staggering around, then passed out on the couch. Wife laughed and said he was thisty.

    Cabbage Fermenting Buckets

Sorry if this has been asked previously (most likey) but I have several 5 gallon food grade plastic buckets that I ferment cabbage in every year to make kraut. The 5 gallon buckets need to be cleaned badly... I've made several batches of kraut in them and cleaned with bleach water and...

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

I accidentally froze the keg. (Temp probe in the wrong place in my keezer). After slowly thawing (temperature probe in the right place) and blowing off about a 1/2 pint of junk out of the bottom of the keg. I would put the beer up against any pilsner and I bet it would win. Seriously it's that...

2 packets of Nottingham enough for 1.113 OG?

1.113 OG, that's some jacked up juice... I did a more than double bock @1.110 OG. I've had it kegged, on gas and in lager 7 months now. I don't plan on tapping it until it's lagered at least 1 year.

Used brewing vessels found in a weed patch

I could use a little more scrap SS. A couple of those might be in good enough shape for future MLT/HLT but man are they Gnarly...

Used brewing vessels found in a weed patch

Look close... As you can see they hold an aweful lot of rain water. Might even be tadpoles, Lord only knows what you'll find when you dump them out.

Used brewing vessels found in a weed patch

What you think? All 5 for $60.00, maybe a MLT and a HLT? pretty rough, worth a rescue?

Re-creating Authentic German beers at home

I would really like to try packaging (kegging) via Krausening. Right now I'm a gas man. Do you have a good resource (how to) that you can point me to? I'm guessing you set aside (refrigerate) some amount of wort and pitch yeast in a few days before you plan to package then when it's Krausening...

Re-creating Authentic German beers at home

Speaking for myself here... For me, premium malts are Crisp, then Weyermann, then Bestmalz. Less expensive American malts Briess and Great Western Malting (GWM) When I'm developing an experimental recipe. If it's a good recipe, I'll switch the the above premium malts and tweak from there. If my...

Re-creating Authentic German beers at home

No your right... Considering all things are the same, quality malts make premium beer. Assuming I don't screw the pooch in one way or another... I personally prefer Crisp malts over Weyermann. But that's just me talking to myself.
