    48qt cooler as mash tun

Found this cooler for $12 on CL. have plans to pick up tomorrow to convert to MLT: http://raleigh.craigslist.org/for/2812279175.html 48qt coleman cooler. Apparently in great condition. Would this be overkill for a 5 gallon batch with a planned rectangular slotted manifold? Might do...

    Drinking my first batch....young

Transferred my second batch tonight to secondary for some dry hopping. Bottled my first batch this past Friday, so its been ~5 days. I know this is no where close to being 'ready', the beer is still flat but getting better every day - but I've already had about 4 the past few days =\...

    First bottling tonight

Yeah I figured a dip tube of sorts would work. Just hadn't made one yet but will in the future. Thanks! I'll check out the sticky

    First bottling tonight

Ahhh. So happy! Everything is bottled. I had a little bit left below the spigot ( about a pint worth) that I didn't feel like messing with so I just put it in a pint glass. Even though it wasn't carbonated, tasted amazing. Maybe a little watery, but can't tell if that's from lack of...

    First bottling tonight

I know. It's so hard waiting. Luckily I have another in the primary so I can keep my downtime to a minimum in the future.

    First bottling tonight

No questions. No problems. Just about to embark on my first bottling tonight. Everything is sanitized and ready to go. Yay! Ok, that is all.

    DME sticking

I've searched a few times on the site to avoid asking a common question...but can't find any answer. Might just be the search function on the mobile app. Anyone have a good suggestion to prevent DME from sticking to the bag when I add it to the brew kettle? It has clumped on my during my...

Bottling in screw top aluminum bottles

cool. like i said, its not really out of necessity, but i know theres been a recent trend in using pop top cans for homebrew, and thought it might be a cool experiment. Might try a few out just for the hell of it.

Bottling in screw top aluminum bottles

Sooo... I know I will get some flak for this, but I occasionally enjoy the commercial light beer - namely Coors Light - with some pizza while I watch some college basketball with the guys. Tonight we got some of the aluminum pint screw top bottles to enjoy. Im bottling my first batch next...

    Hello from NC

Yeah. It wasn't pretty. The ACC didn't show up at all this year. Oh well....gave me an excuse to drink a few brewskis.

    B-Brite mistake.

Note: I did not use b-brite in the primary fermentor. I used the actual sanitizer from the kit. Only the carboy , siphon, and stopper were 'sanitized' with b-brite.

    B-Brite mistake.

So, after about a year of meticulous reading and studying, I brewed my first batch. Brew day went pretty well. Then I racked to a carboy at ~8 days. While I was at my LHBS picking up a carboy stopper, I also picked up a tub of b-brite 'cleanser'. Not paying attention, I thought this was...

    Hello from NC

Hi NCSUpra. Just registered here today myself and posted an introduction. Just trying to get a feel for the homebrewers in the Raleigh/Durham area so figured I'd say hi. I'm located in Cary/Morrisville. Nice name, btw. Recently graduated from NCSU myself.

New guy from Raleigh/RDU, North Carolina

Hi everyone. I've been perusing the site for a few months now getting some tips for my new interest. I just registered yesterday, so I figured I'd give a brief introduction. I'm a recent graduate from N.C. State University in Raleigh (Go Wolfpack!) in Chem. Engineering. Kind of got...
