Don't roast your own coffee beans!

I haven't done this in years, but great success roasting small amounts outdoors with a heat gun and aluminum dog bowl. Good hot air flow, stir with wooden spoon. When roasted, toss back and forth between two strainers to get the chaff out. I never had the palate to be wowed by the difference...

Nice...you're up, homebrewer 99! Here's the clip in question. The older shorter yakuza guy, the first to walk in and take off his glasses...that's Toshishiro Obata - founder of Shinkendo, sort of a historical "re-unification" martial art of different fragments of Japanese swordsmanship...

    What's a good satisfying 3.2 to 4% beer?

Here's the main source I used for my house mild (one of my wife's favorite's) - usually comes in around 3.8%, great flavor, and two variations here, more reddish vs more brownish - both great. http://northernbrewer.blogspot.com/2010/07/mild-ale.html

    DuClaw's Sweet Baby Jesus Clone

I did this a few years ago - used 2 jars of PB2. Actually, Chocolate PB2 (was all they had at the whole foods I went into), and some cocoa nibs, and some hershey cocoa powder. Left a huge amount of sludge at the bottom of my brew kettle, but a decent clone. I'll look around for the recipe.

Loved that alternate take from years back - neat how that was kind of folded in. As far as the show, really liked Johnny's character - you really start rooting for him as he gets his act together, feel for him when he takes his hits. Loved the bar scene with "Danielle". "...What's a...

You got it! I love both Clerks movies. Thanks...amazing how much the 5 years of age difference between my wife and I (she's the younger) means she has no appreciation of all great things of the 80s. Can't even get her to watch Cobra Kai with me...(if you like the original karate kid movie...

    Online College Courses

I did a Master's in National Security Studies through American Military University. No lab work, heavy on research and writing, so lent itself well to an online program. On one occasion, got to see a syllabus for a class in a similar program at Naval Postgraduate School (I was there for a...

    Maryland Maryland brewers?

I live in Carroll County (Eldersburg/Sykesville), work in Howard County. Usually get my supplies from Maryland Homebrew in Columbia (making a stop tomorrow actually).

    Irish Stout and Rum

Would love to try that paired with a cigar. Only thing like this I've tried is a good pils with a shot of bourbon poured in - basically a mixed boilermaker, and like that too.

    Moving to DC....

Obviously, sticker shock will be an issue, but I'll give you my experience... I spent a couple years applying to get out here from Tucson - ended up at APL three years ago, halfway between DC and Baltimore, and we live in Eldersburg/Sykesville, just up in Carroll County. With 4 kids, really...

How about a food recipe thread?

Crockpot Italian Beef 2-3 lb beef roast (I use bottom round, but anything marbled would work) 2 c water 2 packets brown gravy mix (I try to get low sodium) 2 packets Italian dressing mix (or homemade spice blend) Combine all ingredients in slow cooker. Cook on low for 8-9 hours. Shred and...
