    Birthday Gift - Hop Garden

My wife keep saying that she was going to surprise me this year for my birthday. She was absolutely right...I always thought about planting hops but I hesitated for one reason or another. Well, she went ahead and did the research about raising them....looked through my recipe book for which ones...

    Cooling 5 gallons without chiller.

If I was to go back to doing 5-gallons batches - I'd do "no chilling" in the brew kettle.... Don't just take my word for it: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f13/exploring-no-chill-brewing-117111/

HopBox - Practical or another homebrew scheme

I understand about providing some constructive criticism and not just bashing...I get that. Of course, it'll brew beer...small batches don't bother me because that's what I brew... I think my problem with the HopBox is the description on the Kickstarter. To me, it just seems like a...

HopBox - Practical or another homebrew scheme

It looks like something you put on a coffee table for when you expect guests over. "Hey...what's that? "It's my HopBox brew kit. I make my own beer." "Cool! Can I try one one?" I'll bet they only have one drink....

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Ray Daniel's Designing Great Beers is a must have IMO...its my go to book when I'm working on a new recipe.

You'll be fine....I've used 5 gallon carboys for 2.5 gallon batches with no problems. The co2 from fermentation will push a lot of the o2 out and the co2 is heavier so it'll settle on top of the beer.

    iPad brew software suggestions

I've only used Brewers Friend for a couple of recipes but the website looks the same on my desktop compared to the iPad (through the Safari browser) I really like working the recipe on the desk top and then pulling it up on the iPad on brew days. My .02 cents

    BIAB: Dunk Sparge!

Gotta love those ah ha moments....when i did 2.5 gallon and 5 gallon batches that was the only way i could enough wort with my two smaller pots. Congrats on the higher efficiency....i went from 70 to 80% efficiency myself.

2-gallon buckets work great. Bakeries get frosting in 2-gallon buckets and when empty are thrown away. You could hit a few places and see if there will keep some for you and the price is unbeatable....FREE!!!! Just my .02 cents

    1 Gallon BIAB

That volume of water sounds about right for a full volume mash and a 60 minute boil. I usually start with 11quarts and finish with 1.5-gallons. Don't be afraid to squeeze the bag to get all the liquid you'll need for the boil.
