    Corona bottle labels

All my fermentation and bottle conditioning is done in my closet...Where it's dark. :)

    Corona bottle labels

I don't see anything wrong with using a clear Corona bottle, other than the label being painted on the glass, that's the only reason why I don't like/use them. UV rays hitting my beer isn't a concern of mine. My glass carboy that I ferment in is clear, and so are a few of my growlers as well.

OG question -- left sample for awhile

Did you draw the sample while it was still hot? If so, the difference in temperatures could have affected the readings. **EDIT** My bad, I read your post wrong. I thought you took a reading before and then set it aside and read it again hours later. Sorry for the confusion.

    experimenting with mr beer

Being that it's your very first time, I think it's best if you just let it ride...Forget about the alcohol content. Just get yourself familiar with the process of making beer using the Mr. Beer kit and instructions. Mr. Beer is a good beer brewers starting platform IMO. I started with one. I...

    Hello from Long Island, NY

Thanks Pappers! I have to say I am obsessed with beer brewing now. Many times throughout the day I catch myself daydreaming about beer. I'm always thinking about beer...What kind of beer do I want to brew next? What grains work together? What kind of adjuncts should I use? All those kind of...

    Wow! It tastes freaking good!

I was making mediocre beer with Mr Beer for so long that now it's just my natural reaction to think that I'm going to be let down by trying the first bottle of beer from a new batch. However, since I moved on to all grain brewing, I have always been pleasantly surprised by the first sip.

    Corona bottle labels

I have a few people that save bottles for me and I get a lot of Corona bottles, with Heineken bottles, along with screw top bottles also. What I do is go down to my local distributor with them and exchange those bottles for ones that I can use. It's probably your best bet. I wouldn't waste time...

    Hello from Long Island, NY

Hello everyone! I'm Rob from NY...I'm a new home brewer that's been pretty much lurking around the boards here for the past 2 months trying to take in everything about home brewing. Just figured it's about time I said hello...:mug: Just a little about me...Have been home brewing for almost a...

    Dark Cherries in Chocolate Stout

Do you think that putting the cherries in a blender to puree them, then adding it to the secondary will do anything to intensify the cherry flavor?

An Imperial Double Chocolate Cherry Oatmeal Stout recipe

I know this is a bit of an old post...I just happened to stumble across it now. How did this recipe work out for you? I have something kind of similar to this in my secondary right now...I'm anxious to see how it's going to come out. A bit nervous about it actually.

First Batch Is In The Primary...And Now I Have Some Questions

I found that if you're really looking for the most freshest ingredients, then Brooklyn Homebrew is the way to go. Unless you know exactly how long the grains have been sitting in the shelf for at places like Karp's or even Kedco. I haven't really compared the prices between the two. Brooklyn...

First Batch Is In The Primary...And Now I Have Some Questions

I went to Karp's for the first time last week to pick up some hops that I forgot to buy while I was at Brooklyn Homebrew. I gotta say, I was a bit thrown off when I walked into the store...It was a hardware store with a homebrew section in the rear. Judging from their website, you'd think they...

    Grain Mills

Not to hijack the thread, but since we're somewhat on the subject...I've noticed, in a lot of homebrew shops they sell meat grinders as a substitute for grain mills. I'm new at all-grain brewing and was looking into possibly buying a grain mill and at a few local shops, that is all I can find...

    The No-Leak MLT bulkhead design

I built this for the first time out of a Rubbermaid 10 gallon water cooler and she's watertight! One question though. When I added the 156 degree water, I heard a whole bunch of cracking coming from the internal insulation of the cooler, should I be concerned, or is that normal? Thanks.
